SO/where were you 10 years ago?

I was 16 and a junior in hs. I had just met my dh (obviously wasn't my husband yet... or my boyfriend for that matter) I had to go to the lake where my family had a house boat and we spent most of our weekends. I also worked in the dock store. I was mad because my parents wouldn't let me stay "in town" so I could celebrate it with my future husband lol. I can not believe 10 years has passed! We started dating February 2000. It is amazing how much has changed since then!!

I was at a party and MAD at myself because I forgot to turn off the computer and thought the Y2K thing would kill off my computer. LOL

I can't remember exactly what I did on that night. But, I do remember I was closing up one of the best years of my life, and I was only a few weeks away from meeting my hubby. 1999 will go down as the year that made me who I am and prepared me for everything that I have now. I wonder what the next 10 year will bring . . . .

I was finishing the end of a great honeymoon, getting ready to move into our new place and go back to work. We rung in the New Year with friends and we buried a time capsule the next day. Only 15 more years and we can dig it up!

I was living in Sherwood, Arkansas and the hubby and I went to the Fox & Hound with friends to shoot pool, have some drinks and then they served breakfast after midnight with mimosas. I was still in the Air Force and DH & I had just celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary. I even remember the cute burgundy top I wore with some black pants. I have 35mm photos from that night, but they are in storage in TX!

I remember friends freaking out and selling their homes to move to be near family. Other friends were stalking up supplies and everyone was buying into all the Y2K garbage. We were just laughing about it and joking how everyone was so stupid. But...at the last minute, I went and took a bunch of cash out of the bank...maybe like $10,000 to have on hand just in case! LOL!

and yeah...don't remember much else!

and egads...I was 38! I'd love to be 38 again!

I was hugely pregnant in 1999. My youngest daughter was born 2 weeks into the new year, on January 14, 2000. I remember that I didn't believe all that Y2K stuff, but I did buy some tuna and fill a bathtub.... just in case. Hey, if something had happened, I'd be able to flush the toilet and eat.

Hahaha, I thought you filled the bathtub with tuna!

I had JUST gotten engaged on Christmas Eve, and I was in Lake Charles, LA with my husband's family celebrating! :) I can't believe it's been ten years!

I was 32. We were doing what we have done every NYE since we got married. We were having a party! NYE is DH's b-day. We had a Y2K party & everyone had to bring some item for the apocolypse & a quote about it, so we could all be prepared and together for the end times. It was a lot of fun. We spent most of the day watching the time change across Asia and rooting for the lights to go out, but they never did.

I was down in El Paso, TX for the Sunbowl - Minnesota Gophers vs. Oregon Ducks. The Gophers lost :( And for the actually new year party - we (the whole marching band) were at a Mexican restaurant somehwere in El Paso.

LOL, I didn't even know that those two schools played each other! I was born in Minnesota and my Dad went to the U so we have some of his Gopher stuff, and I am "from" Oregon so I guess I'm a Ducks fan or is it a Beaver's fan...I don't know. But can you say our teams have the most fierce mascots out there! So I just had to crack up that they played each other in the Sunbowl (since both get little to no sun in the winter!)

Oh and Megan...how cool to bring in the new milenium meeting your DH!!!

Ok and so you all young'ens need to stop! Seriously I'm not that old am I??? I was 23 and it was the last time DH and I went out for New Years (not that we did every year before that). We were stationed in Okinawa at the time and the flying squadrons had rented Jack's Place for their NYE parties. We had a good time and I met a girl that night (yelling screaming trying to talk) that in a few months landed me my first ever Chemistry job. It was definitely a memorable night for me. And I cannot believe it has been 10 years!!! Maybe in the next few we can go back to Okinawa, that would be cool!

Oh my look at all you youngins! lol

I was 25..living in an apartment with my best friend, I was still teaching then so I was still on Christmas vacation..DH and I just started dating..we had a few friends over and for some reason I remember playing Mad Gab lol.

I don't remember exactly what I was doing that day but just a few days prior I had found out that I was pregnant with my first child. So I know I definitely wasn't drinking LOL

Most new year's I wouldn't be able to remember specifically but I do remember on this one because of the y2k thing. We were at my brother's house - I was pregnant with my oldest son and feeling nauseous. My brother was a huge believer that something BIG was going to happen with y2k - he stockpiled food, supplies, bought a gun :p I still remember at midnight, boom, NOTHING happened. LOL

I remember exactly what I was doing. Mom and I were babysitting a 3.5 year old and a 6 month old for two young single moms. (One had a job in the computer dept so she was required to work...just in case. The other just hoped to be with friends which we understood and since we were babysitting anyways we offered). I went to the dollar store and got some party stuff and we had a small party for the kids. I think they were both asleep by 9pm. Spent the rest of the night watching tv.

WOW - You are all soooo YOUNG!!!! I was active duty and told I could not go on leave (just in case the world imploded Y2K) so I went to the Cannon O club (In the middle of NOWHERE New Mexico) and spent new years eve with family and friends - and a VERY BAD comedian! I was 11 - ha no really I was 28 - (since we are sharing)

Man I'm feeling old! Some of yall were so young 10 years ago

I was living with some friends, we threw a party for all our friends and went to Costco and bought enough champagne for every adult at the party to have their own bottle - we filled up a bathtub with ice to hold it all.

oh oh!! I remember now! apparently i just had to sleep on it LOL..
I remember cause it was the whole y2k :p
so my bff's in hs were all at my friends house... and we had a little party (not like WOOO party... her folks were there.. and we had like chips and dip sorta party).. and we all sat on the couch and watched the ball drop............. and then went WOoooooooooooOO the world didnt' end. It was SO exciting :p oh and her ferret bit my friend.

I was 20 ... I turned 21 on Jan 2nd LOL. My ex husband (he was my fiance at the time) spent the day at Disneyland and watched the "countdown" Fantasmic show. It was pretty cool ... but VERY crowded.

OMGosh, all you young thangs!!!

Well, I was 22 1/2 (gosh, feeling old now). I was about to finish up my Music Therapy internship at a state psychiatric hospital. I had been married a year and a half.

Not sure what I was doing that exact night. One of my husband's best friends growing up used to have a big NYE bash every year w/ his family. It was quite a blowout each year. So we were probably there.

Kinda fun looking back!

ahhhhhhhhhh to be as young as you Kresta the young thang! I was 40 ... and had an 11 year old, a 5 year old, and a 4 year old... lol

Hahaha, I thought you filled the bathtub with tuna!

I had JUST gotten engaged on Christmas Eve, and I was in Lake Charles, LA with my husband's family celebrating! :) I can't believe it's been ten years!

I was thinking she filled a bathtub with tuna too! I was like what??? Why??:confused::confused:

hmm, not sure exactly. I was senior in high school. I was probably at a church dance unless I boycotted it for a party with some friends instead!

I remember it very clearly. We had only found out about 10 or so days before, that I was pregnant with Benjamin. It was a new century, and I remember looking out the window thinking what an amazing time it was to be alive, that we were alive to see a new century come in. I was thinking about how many changes we'd have in the next year (and the years to follow too!) with our new baby being born. It was a magical night, it was one of only two times that Tony hasn't worked a night shift on NYE. I will never forget the joy and optimism I felt that night.

I was in 9th grade.

All of my girlfriends were over for a sleepover and some of them were freaking out that the end of the world was coming at midnight 2000! LOL.

I think I was babysitting with some friends. We watched the Mtv countdown. I no longer talk to either of them. What a difference 10 years makes! LOLOL!

I was 18 and I was at a party with a bunch of friends. We were all hoping nothing crazy would happen, and looking forward to the Metallica concert that we went to see the next day!!! lol, I remember at midnight the guy who's house we were at was down in the basement, and he hit the breakers to mess with us! That's funny, I haven't thought about that night in a looooong time!

1999 is when I started working in Human Resources at a hotel (didn't quit until 2007!) . I was 19 at the time. That New Years Eve, due to the Y2K I had to work very late into that Friday night to finish processing all the payroll that I would normally have done on Saturday.

I remember finishing around 9pm that night and then headed to one of the ballrooms where they had set up buffets with lots of food for all of us that had to work that night. We all just hung around to see what would happen.

If paychecks weren't cut, we already had all the information submitted & printed, and we were going to have to do close to 500 manual checks. Oh it was lots of fun! LOL.

I was still living at home, and by then had gone out with my now DH, but we were not a formal couple yet.

And now, here I am at 29.... married.... with an almost 7yo, almost 5yo, and a 1yo!

I was trying to get ahold of my now DH because I was paranoid that I wasn't going to be able to get ahold of him after whatever happened happened! lol I kept calling and I kept not being able to get ahold of him. I was sooooo mad that he didn't call me. This was before either of us had cell phones! I just remember being so SOOO anxious and irritated at him! Looking back on it, it makes me giggle because the year 2000 issue turned out to be nothing! heehee!

I really had to think!!

I was 20 and on a red eye home from Cali and the Rosebowl. We went to the Badger UCLA game. Badgers won - we were in the front row, UCLA endzone. I got to hug Bucky Badger and we had a LOT of fun. I was with my boyfriend (now hubby!) and two of my BFFs - which we'll see tonight for the Badger Bowl game.

*sigh* Those were easy, carefree times. Still in college. Not married. No kids. :)

Well I know I would have been 17 and in my senior year of high school. I want to say that we spent NYE playing games at my grandparents and then went to the Rose Parade the next day? But no one seems to remember for sure.

I know the years before and after 2000 we went to Disneyland for NYE but we knew 2000 would be WAY too crazy.
