Spin off of Nikki's Can you believe post... so I started thinking... What was I doing in eve of going into 2000...

I remember I had to work that night... I was working for Kimberly-Clark in the computer department and my shift was 10 pm to 2 am... waiting for whatever was to happen. Okay... I was a software instructor, what the heck was I suppose to do if something bad happened??? Instruct everyone on where to find the instruction in the manual? ;) All I remember of that night was watching Neil Diamond sing in the new year in Denver and he was counting down and was about 5 seconds too early compared to the countdown clock behind him... also as in grand tradition in my family, I'm gaging down herring at the strick of midnight right next to my team leader, director, and the CFO of a major Fortune 100 company... yes, that is the way to make a name for yourself...

What were you doing on December 31, 1999?

My DH and I were in our apartment watching TV and drinking wine, having a fondue, etc. I believe. Same thing as we're doing this year actually!

Probably same thing I do every New Year's Eve...sleeping LOL. Or if I actually was awake, i was probably watching something on cable.

I was hugely pregnant in 1999. My youngest daughter was born 2 weeks into the new year, on January 14, 2000. I remember that I didn't believe all that Y2K stuff, but I did buy some tuna and fill a bathtub.... just in case. Hey, if something had happened, I'd be able to flush the toilet and eat.

I was 18 and home for my first leave since joining the Air Force, hanging with high school friends at a party out in the woods. It was fun.

I was 16 and I was hanging with my best friends at the time... not exactly sure really haha... wow... so long ago...

My hubby (then boyfriend) and I and some friends were celebrating in Kelowna, Canada on a ski vacation!

I was down in El Paso, TX for the Sunbowl - Minnesota Gophers vs. Oregon Ducks. The Gophers lost :( And for the actually new year party - we (the whole marching band) were at a Mexican restaurant somehwere in El Paso.

I was celebrating with my brother, sister, Dh and a few other friend's at my sister's house...DH drank lots that night and reaked of tequila!!!

My hubby and I were just talking about this tonight actually...we stayed home because we aren't big into partying and also weren't sure what would happen with Y2K. I was probably dreaming of and making big plans for our wedding that was the following April! I can't believe 10 years have passed since then!

Oh gosh to be back in those "I can't remember" days

But this old gal can remember - all the excitement/worry about the Year 2000. And my youngest was born at Thanksgiving so I can remember being up with him nursing and watching the different time zones ring in the new year! Now I'm lucky to stay up past 10:00 p.m. :)

I was in my first year of grad school but I'm sure I was home for Christmas Break...SOOOO, that would mean I was probably sitting in the bar with my husband/then boyfriend.

haha i was 18 and i remember exactly where i was. I was at a party held by one of my brothers best friends. I remember it so well because i spent most of the night making out (secretly) with one of my brothers friends. I'd had a crush on this guy for like a year, and for some reason, that night he finally noticed me! But i think i remember it so well, because my brother sprung us and dragged me home. The worst part is, my brother is younger than i am! so embarrasing. lol.

I also had a really daggy pair of 2000 glasses....the 2 and the last 0 stuck out the sides of my head and you looked through the two middle zero's. They were bright purple. I was very in the spirit. lol

OMGosh, all you young thangs!!!

Well, I was 22 1/2 (gosh, feeling old now). I was about to finish up my Music Therapy internship at a state psychiatric hospital. I had been married a year and a half.

Not sure what I was doing that exact night. One of my husband's best friends growing up used to have a big NYE bash every year w/ his family. It was quite a blowout each year. So we were probably there.

Kinda fun looking back!

I was 24, and DH and I went to a big, formal party in Washington, DC with friends. I had to go back and check the photos to be sure I had the right year. That's why I scrap--my memory stinks, and if it isn't recorded somehow I forget it.

I was 22 and my hubby (then boyfriend) and I had only been dating a few months. We were partying at his aunt and uncles house.

well....I guess I could see if I could find my calendar from that date...but guessing...not a lot...had an 11 year old, a 4 year old and a 5 year old....ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh NOW I know where you are going with this...we were out of town at my sister's house...sitting around talking (playing cards?), munching on food...and I, being the geeky kind of person that I am...had the ONLY computer between the two families and was keeping one eye on my playing cards and one eye on the computer screen to see if ANYTHING happened at 12:01 a.m. ... knowing full well NOTHING would happen. We had bets on it.

I was 24 and I don't remember. We were married for a little over a year at the time. I can remember the apartment we lived in but not what we did for NYE. I can even remember celebrating NYE with my students 2 days before Christmas break. We made a time capsule and had a party and all that. But for the life of me I can not remember what I did on the actual NYE.

10 years ago today my nephew had an accident with a riding lawnmower and had his foot almost cut off so my entire family was at the hospital waiting to see if he was going to be ok. He was in the hospital for like 2 months I think and had several surgeries to repair his foot because it was really bad. He had just turned 7 like two weeks before his accident. I did not even think about that until tonight. I remember the phone call like it was yesterday. He was at his dads house and my sister (not his mom) called and told me that he had been airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando but she did not know how bad it was. I tried calling to see but they would/could not give me any info. So we packed up the whole family and headed up there. His dad and stepmom were there as were all my sisters and my mom and stepfather. We did not head home until late that night.

I was seventeen, and DH (not yet DH, boyfriend at the time) and I were at a family party one hour away from our home town. DH had to work at 4:00 a.m., he worked for the local bus company, starting the buses and dusting off the snow before the morning shift.

So we left the party at about 12:30 a.m. to come back home. During the ride, the heater turned off, so the windows were frosted, the lights were starting to dim, the alternator was shutting down, so it took us all we had to coax the car back to our town, but it definately broke just near my cousin's house, so we walked there since there was a party. We were frozen! :p Good times!
