A Week in Life.. chatter thread

Have you start working on planning stage? Decided on the look of the book?

After going thru previous examples, I'm 90% sure that I want to do the graphic style, the kind Lynnette and Traci (2011)did. I'll have to work very hard to keep my hands off of digi stash! lol But I keep going back to those 2 albums. It will also make the fastest way to finish the book, since I am not a fast scrapper.

I've started writing down the list of photos to take, so that I can cross it off as I go.

I have printed the PDF file from Ali Edwards site to make notes during the day.

Got the code for free shutterfly book, which gives a deadline to finish the book before coupon expires.

After all this prep, I better get the book going! lol

I've decided I'm going to take the pressure off myself this year and do an all-instagram album! I made myself some templates for it that will be available this weekend and that's about all I've planned! Haha

Traci, I saw your post to Lex in other thread and waiting to see what you come out with. So far, I've started the front cover and back cover using your album from last year... I was really looking forward to using the slip-in album, but now I think graphic style will work better for me.

I'm doing paper for my album. I've decided my color scheme and ordered my supplies.

I have a chart on the door in my kitchen with the shots I want to remember that are specific to each day as well as general shots I want that are not day specific...

I have not printed off Ali's daily sheets yet, but I will.

Anxious to get going...

I have not done any prep yet... Trying to catch up on Project Life first LOL

but I do plan on using a mix of Traci's album coming out this weekend and Lynnette's album... I love the slip in style and I actually thought I was gonna just include this in my Project Life book, but now with the free code from Shutterfly, I think I'll go graphic this year... unless Traci does some slip ins for her Instagram album too ;)

... unless Traci does some slip ins for her Instagram album too ;)

I like that idea ;)

I still need to finish my 2011 book (have all pics - just need to put them all together in a book). But I am planning on doing this year too - just not next week as my in-laws are visiting. I am going to do it the week after - I'm excited to see everyone's pages - I think that will really help motivate me to scrap it faster!

I am definitely going with a clean, simple, graphic style for my book. It won't get done otherwise as I have too many irons in the fire right now. It will also save me buying templates or kits to scrap it with so that's a big plus. With that and the free book and a free shipping code I've been hoarding, The complete album won't cost me anything. :)

I am thinking about a list but really, I'll probably fly by the seat of my pants on that one. Things like what we ate or what TV show we watched might interest me in 20 years or so but right now I really don't know if I will include those things. Hmm...

Plan Ahead? You mean I'm supposed to do that? Don't you know I'm the world's worst procrastinator? :) Seriously though I guess that's why I'm not good with these projects. Maybe I should be thinking about it a little. :)

I'm just going to take pics as often as I can. Keep a little note book with me to write down things I want to include and then I'll be mixing some of Traci's older templates with the Instagram ones :wubs: and some of Lynette's template. I can try to plan out each day but it will never work so I've learned to just go with the flow.

I do have a list of photos I want to take so that when I get to Wed and I feel like I'm taking the same pics over and over I have something else to turn to.

I have never done this before and I'm doing no prep just waking up on the first day with my iPhone charged up and ready to snap away at my life for the rest of the week. I'll work out what to do with the photographs after I've taken them all.

If I don't set myself a target then I'll be just fine to go with the flow and see what happens :)

I love the look of Marla's Project 365 pages, so I'm planning to do something similar, using a kraft background to unify the album and a different kit for each day. My album is more likely to get done if I treat the pages like regular scrapbook layouts and try to make them fit portfolio challenges.

I haven't quite decided on templates yet. I'll probably use either Traci's Slip-Ins or Cindy's Super 7's; I already have enough of each, so which line I go with will partly depend on how many photos I want to use each day. I'll decide once I've got a few days photographed. I think I'm going to do a 2-page 12x12 spread for each day plus 6 extra pages to finish out the album. 3 of those will be about DH at work and the boys at school, 2 will be a photo of each of us plus maybe a family photo (if I can get one), and the other will probably be some sort of introduction.

I have a partial list of photos so I don't forget anything important, but I'll mostly be winging it. I've DLed Ali's journaling sheets, but I'm more likely to use a small notebook and type up my notes each night.

Thanks for the shout out! :)

I think I'm going to either do a very clean, simple book with Nettio's template or a mixture of those templates with Traci's slip-ins. I am seriously considering making it look more "Project Lifey" since I'm totally loving that look, but not getting it out of my 365 pages. Hmmm... Good thing I have a few days to decide.

Marla, your Project 365 looks great! That alone tempted me to do P365.. but I know better! LOL I'll be happy if I finish AWITL first. One step at a time.

LOL, yeah this is pretty much me :p I'll probably use the same bg paper throughout, maybe a kraft or other neutral paper. I really wanna focus on photos and words :)

While I am using Traci's new templates (they will blow your mind they are so awesome!) I'm also lifting ideas from Lynnette's with the recaps of little details.

My tentative workflow will be to just shoot, shoot, shoot throughout the day, then at night "process" them in Instagram (with my phone in Airplane Mode so it doesn't go to my feed). I've downloaded and will print out Ali's sheets--they helped me a LOT last year. Because I'm in front of my computer most of the day I like jotting things down as they happen.

I'm going mostly instagram for mine. I have my list together of photos I want to take. I'm using Blurb for my photo book so I can assemble my pages in their software as I go. It's just so much easier for me rather than trying to create scrap pages. I might try to make pages the first day & see how it goes so I can use the free shutterfly code though.

ooooh so you can make them not go to your feed but still save?

Yep! Just switch your phone to Airplane Mode before you shoot/process the photos with the filters. Don't add a caption, click done, then it will say failed as it goes to your feed. You can click the X so it won't upload but it's already been saved to your camera roll :)

For those of you planning to do yours with phone photos, what phones do you have? I love my Ascend 2 (my first smartphone), but the camera stinks. There's no flash, so photos of my kids come out terribly. I hardly ever bother using the camera, and I definitely wouldn't count on it for an entire album like this. I'm just wondering what phone I need to aspire to for next time :)

The iPhone cameras are pretty amazing these days. And they have lots of picture editing apps, too!

I'm too obsessive to use my iPhone though. I will be lugging around my big camera, but I do that all the time anyway.

My iPhone has pretty much been my go-to camera since I got it. I didn't believe it at first, but when I got the Camera+ app it really has made a difference in the quality of photos I've taken! (And I can honestly say that because I LOATHE having to buy apps. Before Camera+ I had tried about 15 different free camera apps. Well, I still have like 11 free camera apps... :p)

With a few exceptions, my photos in my layouts from March onwards have been with the iPhone :)

So when you use Camera+ with Instagram, do you take the photos in Camera+ and then import them into Instagram? Does it change the resolution size of the photo when you do that?

I have the iPhone 4s. Before I had the iPhone 3Gs and I never used the camera on it but the one on the 4s rocks. I still love my DSLR but I never use my P&S camera anymore because the iPhone one is so much better plus it's one less thing to carry around.

I've been thinking I may use my iPhone for a lot of WITL but mostly because I think it'll push me to take different photos than I would if I used my DSLR again.

This is my first AWITL and I have to say I love. But taking photos constantly is not my nature. For Wednesday I just have way too less photos. So I only made one spread for whole of Wednesday. Scrapping them immediately was against Lynnette's rules but for me it was better. I am just not a walking notebook. And doing it this way everything was still fresh.

I am so happy with the result so far!

You know, I never checked! But I did notice with some of the other camera apps the resolution changes. But usually when I get new apps I always make sure to save in the app's highest settings. Hmm. *goes off to double-check*

I use my Samsung Infuse phone for pics. When I got it (last June) it was the best camera phone on the market. It takes great pics and I can control lots of settings on it. I don't use a p&s any more.

For instagram photos, I take the photos with my camera and then import them into instagram. I haven't tried taking them in instagram to begin with. Of course with an Android, instagram is still new to me.

I save them with Camera+, then open instagram and just choose them from my library, in order to have the high res version and the fun instagram version. I'll have to check the resolution on them though before I start.

I'm not doing AWITL until the next week, because we've got some big events going on next week that are NOT part of our normal lives, and I'd rather just have a normal-ish week captured. I'm using a combination of Traci's and nettio's templates for mine, and keeping it super clean and simple.

I've got a Droid 3 & it takes great photos. I have a P&S more mega pixels but really, unless I need to zoom, the Droid 3 is just as good. The Droid's zoom is not so good. I just take the photos in Instagram. The camera saves both the original and the edited version but in a different place than photos taken with any other camera app, which is really irritating for download purposes but once I figured that out I default to Instagram just about every time I use the phone camera

My phone takes awful pictures in low light so I never use it unless I just want to snap a picture of a toy one of the kids wants or something like that for future reference. I'd never use it to document our life. In fact, I think I've taken 50 pictures on it since I got it in November. I take 3x that a day sometimes. LOL I'll be carrying around my DSLR next week because I am too picky about photos to not do so.

Thanks for the info! When I'm ready for a new phone, I'll definitely pick something with a better camera.

I have my Highlights pages almost done. Got almost everything listed. Selected about 30 templates to use for daily pages.
