A Week in Life.. chatter thread

Anyone else not want to do 'fun' stuff this week because they want the pictures of it for next week's AWITL? LOL

Yes! The kids and I made a pie yesterday, and while I took a few pictures I was thinking, "I wish I'd saved this for next week!" I've deliberately put off a few of the things that we do once every few weeks so that they can be in next week's album.

We pulled out the fire pit for the first time this spring and made s'mores tonight. I told the kids we might have to do it next weekend too. They were thrilled.

My weekend was full of activities! I took some pictures, but kept wishing it was this way next weekend!

I'm ending up the opposite way--I wanted a normal week, but this week is turning out to be busier than usual because of my son's class play (which DH took off from work for, a rare occurrence), my once-a-month stint in DD's classroom, an extra class with DD, and a birthday party. So maybe not quite a normal week, but I decided to do AWITL this week anyway so I can do it along with everyone else. Besides, things come up every week that stop it from being a "normal" week. I'll just address it in the journaling.

But, that IS the normal part of your life.. something always popping up in your routine life.

So far, I've pics of our breakfast, photo of my daughter (for a Fashion of the Week page) and photo of my son in the car while I was dropping him off to school. Now, I'm at work, so won't be getting anymore pics till I get home. Might take a photo or two of my desk at work and when I go for a walk. But that's a daily thing, so I'll just add it as a filler to one of the days when I don't get many pics in the evening.

I'm taking pictures, too. This morning, I got a picture of my hubby sleeping in bed, my breakfast, the outside of the place I work, and my water bottle on my desk.

I've always tried to remind the hubster that he needs to be taking a picture. He hasn't yet, but hopefully he will sometime today. lol.

I've taken a bunch of pictures this morning, me cuddling with the kids in bed this morning, my boy eating breakfast, my girl brushing her teeth, kids getting in the van to leave for school, kids getting on the bus at school, the work I had waiting for me on my work table, my desk, me at the work table (self-timer), me at the desk, stopping at the grocery store after work, stopping at Braum's to pick up milk after that, etc. The thing is, I'm not thrilled with them. :( I used the little point and shoot and I hate it. :( I am going to try to finish this week out but I might wait until later... like next week... when things are more organized and photoeady.

Honestly, things are never going to be as organized or photoeady as you would like. That's life. :D I think a major part of this project is learning not to stress about everything being perfect because really, it's not about the individual shots, it's the overall story that's being told that matters. So I say stick with it - it really is worth it in the end!

I know. Well, logically I know. My inner perfectionist says otherwise. LOL I really don't want a book full of pictures of my messy house so I am trying to take pictures that will have some meaning without capturing the full extent of the mess. I've been on a spring cleaning spree and I'm afraid it got worse instead of better with everything being sorted through. LOL

Believe me, I hear ya. My first thought this morning was "hmm, I really wish I would have cleaned up more yesterday" along with "we really need to hang some art on these walls." :D But I also know from my experience last year that those details don't really come through when it's all put together - they're just parts of the larger whole.

I'm having a great time taking photographs of all sorts of stuff that I probably usually don't even think about. Some of the lighting was crappy, and perhaps they weren't as arty and perfect as I want them to be but basically that's what my life is all about. I am quite pleased with myself that I managed a full day and now I'm off to bed, ready for day 2.

that is what the crop tool is for in PS... hahaha!!! :D My house is a disaster... I'm cleaning up some of the mess - that isn't going in the book, per se... it's more of "Hey, this is the type of cleaner I use..." ;)

I haven't posted, but I bought Lynette's templates a couple of days ago and I've had a blast taking pics today :)

I'm doing 100% graphic, probably an unabashed lift of Lynette's, honestly. (You should be flattered, I love it that much.)

This was the perfect week for us...I have a few 'interesting' things going on so it's not completely mundane, but it's not vacation or anything incredibly different from the norm.

Today a friend visited from out of state (she was passing through, we just had lunch). Wed I have an office visit for the clinical trial I'm participating in. Thursday I'm photographing a friend while she does a locks of love donation, and Friday we have Parker's annual IEP meeting. The other 11 hours of our days will be 'normal' each day, but I'm pleased there is something to break up the day every day.

I'm going strong. I washed my pickup after work and went to the grocery store. Both were needed so this project is totally helping me get stuff done.

I think we may eat better this week since I will be recording it all. Haha.

I made it through the day taking photos, and I still have a lot of things on my list that I can shoot the rest of the week. I'm sure I'll feel differently by Thurs! I tried hard to limit myself to a few photos of each activity (even if they were bad photos, which a lot were), but I'm sure the hardest part of AWITL for me is going to be narrowing it down to 14 or so shots a day. I hardly ever do single photo LOs because I'm no good at picking just 1 shot to share the story.

I'm embracing the messy house--I took some shots of the kitchen piled with dirty dishes first thing this morning, and it was such a busy day that they weren't finally all clean until after dinner, so I have a photo of that, too. Another day I plan to photograph the dining room table covered in folded laundry. I feel like I waste half my life on laundry and kitchen chores, so they should be in the book!

Oh, thanks. My car could definitely use a wash. Maybe I'll do that this week. LOL.

Your comment about eating better this week made me smile.

I did really well yesterday until supper time. Took a photo of it and that was the last one I took. Around 10:30 it occurred to me I ought to take some evening photos but there are only so many ways to document 'sat on the couch, read & watched tv". I'm doing a list of what I read & what we watch but as far as photos...one will suffice. I suppose I need to set up my tripod & remote this evening.

I maintain there is no such thing as a 'normal' week. I mean think about it, how often do you have a just 'routine' week. Once a month? That's not actually a routine, that's just a week with nothing really extra in it. All those other weeks, with random extra things in them, those are the real 'normal' weeks.

I think the clutter is apart of everyday life :/

True. I just don't want to look back and remember this clutter. I imagine my life will always be cluttered. I don't need the reminder, I want to focus on everything else. :) If it was clutter from baby toys or diapers (like the mounds of cloth diapers I used to wash), etc... you know, clutter that has a time frame, then it would be different. School papers, backpacks, that I don't mind taking pictures of... but just my clutter because I didn't get things put away, not so much.

well, just uploaded day 1 ... 82 photos LOL

I don't know how many I took, but I took quite a few. I used my DSLR, the little point and shoot and my phone. I need to consolidate the pictures to one place.

Is everyone off to a good start today? I woke up and did NOT want to take pictures. :( I kinda got started though.

yeah, I didn't really want to take photos the start of today either... *sigh* not having the best day... have to go to the dentist (which is the one place in the plant I loathe going to the most)... I can't find the chargers for two of my cameras - no clue as to where they are... and then there was parent viewing day at my son's swim class - I do not like the teacher he has this time... so that has all put me in a bad mood...

I took about 15-20 pics yesterday and I felt it was enough to capture the day. I don't have anything going on in the evening, so won't have any extra pics. I might take some pics of around the home as a filler.. like the shampoo/conditioner, vanity counter to show the products being used.. took the photo of the traffic to work.

I was feeling bad about not having my older daughter as part of the book because she's in college (her first year). However, she sent me a photo of voter registration(she registered yesterday and was excited about it lol). now, I can include that as part of the event of the day, which is a major milestone for her.

Cute, Traci! I haven't even uploaded yet. I guess I should do that at some point today. I think its time for a nap though. I am so sleepy today. *yawn*
