So, when we were in the ER waiting room on Monday we were sitting next to this lady. When Tyrel was called back, I had to get Allie, the diaper bag, the toys she had out, and her blanket all by myself. I leaned over to pick up her blanket and Allie arched her back and threw her head back (she does this often) and she was hanging upside down and I still was holding her... she wasn't going to fall and she thought it was fun and laughed. I didn't flop her back, she did it herself. Then the lady next to us was like, "Well, that was a Britney moment!" (referencing Britney Spears).... oh my goodness! I wanted to punch her right in the mouth!! I pretended it didn't bother me and kinda laughed it off but boy was I offended! Then another lady sitting near us and was like, "No, I can tell she's a good mommy!" Yes, thank you! Seriously. I was so annoyed. :glare:

How rude! People just don't think before they say things. She obviously doesn't have kids or hasn't had them in a long time!

I, personally, would have said something snarky like "She's just possessed by the devil." or "There's her epilepsy flaring up again." or "And that was a Rosie O'Donnell moment."

It baffles me, the audacity some people have. It's sad.

OMG, that is so RUDE! Since you had your hands full you would think she could have helped you out by picking up the blanket or toys.

I would have been livid! I hate when people do rude crap like that. Knowing me though, I wouldn't have said anything at the time, and then let it fester until I wanted to punch something out!

Wow, some people are so RUDE!!! My youngest DGS (18 months old) does that all the time and does it because he thinks it is so much fun!
I know I would have felt like being rude right back, although with people like that it probably wouldn't have helped. They only see their own point of view and hear only themselves...
Sorry that happened to you :(

I think I would have turned around and said, "Would you like to see a Mike Tyson moment."

The nerve of people! I would've had to say something too! That is beyond rude! Sorry you had to deal with ignorance like that!

My standard response to people like that is "wow, that was rude" ... I used to let it slide, but in my old age I've decided that I hate the feeling of festering over what I could/should have said! Sorry you had to deal with her on top of being at the ER :(

I have had something similar happen to me and just respectfully (which was really hard) said to her that it was none of her business how or what I do with my child!!! I was seething and my oldest said that she was mean right in front of her too!! She was slightly embarrassed and just walked away but when we saw her in the store again my kid said "hey Mom, it is the mean lady again!!" I hope she learned a lesson that time

There is no way in hell I would have not said something to her. I could see you being so shocked that you were silent, but yeah, that's totally not appropriate.

I can think of a whole lotta things that I would have blurted out at her but in reality, I probably would have kept my mouth shut for fear of starting something in the ER in front of my kids. I think that it's great that the other lady stood up for you.

Hmmm I hate people that comment on something instead of helping. She obviously has never had (or taken care of...maybe her nanny did it) any small children...they do that all the time!
