Whatcha readin?

The Time Traveler's Wife. i'm impatiently waiting for Charlaine Harris's next Sookie/True Blood book coming out in i think May. cannot WAIT!!!

I want to read the bible this year, but I don't own one and there are SO MANY out there that I don't know which one to get.

I use both NIV (New International Version) and NLT (New Living Translation). They are both in language that is easy to comprehend.

If you're looking for an even more modern version, The Message is also really good. It reads like someone talking in this day and time. I don't use it for every day study, but I like to read it to get a different perspective. And there are many websites that can give you a guided reading if you want to read the Bible thru w/in the year or a certain time-frame.

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen - Not my favorite of hers so far but hopefully it'll blow me away at the end. It's hard to beat Pride and Prejudice so I am comparing everything to it.

These are the ones that I have downloaded on my ipod to read next:
Emma and Northanger Abbey - Jane Austen
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
The Scarlet Letter - Nathaniel Hawthorne
A Room With A View and Howards End - E.M. Forster
The Age of Innocence - Edith Wharton

I use the NIV as well.. I want to get the message too! Pretty sure meg has it and loves it!

I'm currently reading the blindside :) I just finished twenties girl by sophia whatshername (shopaholic series) and it was ok :)

Colleen, I second the NIV.

I also agree that NIV is a great version for easier reading. I am a NKJV person myself, no idea why, but it's just the best fit for me.

Wanted to also recommend a study bible. I have a Women's study bible and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, the additional information is amazing and the side notes really help me to fully understand what I'm reading! I'll look up at the publisher and version if you want!

Just finished The Help over the weekend, and it was excellent. I also recently read Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and am getting ready to start the second in that series, Catching Fire - they're youth fiction and really fast easy reads.

Thanks so much you guys! :) I'll check out the NIV and The Message. I went to Barnes and Noble a few weeks ago with a gift card burning a hole in my purse, but when I walked over to the religious area I was totally surprised at all the different versions. I got too intimidated and just left. :/

Jac, if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to check out the study bible too.

ETA: I loved the Time Traveler's Wife. I read it so I could see the movie, and then never went to see the movie, lol. I'll catch it on tv when it comes out, just like all the other movies I never get to go see, lol.

I think I'll be reading Stephen King's Under the Dome for quite a while yet. But as soon as I get my Nook I'll be getting Dear John too.

This is one instance where the movie is SOOOOOO much better than the book, especially if you skip the Julie parts LOLOL

I'm actually enjoying the book. I had it out of the library over Christmas and didn't get to read much so just checked it out again..lol. Was pleasantly surprised to find my bookmark still marking my place. I also just started P.S. I Love You by Cecilia Ahern...I don't know anything about it, was just browsing the shelves at the library and it looked interesting. About to start reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I'm never happy unless I have a few books on the go at once.

This is a great book!! (and yet another that is way better than the movie - I didn't even finish watching the end of the movie for this yet I couldn't put the book down)

I just finished the Sookie Stackhouse series, and I absolutely loved it.

Right now, I started the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich because I wanted something light. It is just sooo funny!

I, for one, abolutely loved The Poisonwood Bible and the Time Traveler's Wife. :)

And Pillars of the Earth is my favorite read.

I'm reading the Sookie series. I think I'm on book 6. And I'm on Eclipse in the Twilight series again. I bought Julie and Julia to read - that's probably next. Also picked up Michael Crichton's last book, Pirate Latitudes. I have so many books that I have to read.

LOL I didn't even realize it was a movie until I pulled out the book to figure out the name of the author and my DH goes...oh that's a movie. So I had to look it up to see if it was based on the book. I really find the premise interesting and love the way it's written. Not too far into it yet but really thinking I'm gonna enjoy it.

I'm reading a mystery series by Conrad Allen that are set on luxury liners in 1910-1915 and feature a coupole of ship's detectives. They are each titiled "Murder on (insert ships name), starting with Murder on the Luisitania. I just finished Murder on the Oceanic

I have read a lot lately. My DH bought me a kindle a few months ago and I have been a reading machine! I read Dear John and I liked it. I do like most of Nicholas Sparks books though. He has several good ones. A few that I have read lately that I really liked.....

Of course, the Sookie Stackhouse series. Patiently waiting for the next book!
Dance Upon Air by Nora Roberts (it is like meshing Sleeping with the enemy with a witch story. Sounds odd but I loved it)
Hide in Plain Sight by Marta Perry
I LOVE KRISTIN HANNAH BOOKS! I started with Firefly Lane and totally loved it. I have read many of her books since reading that. SO GOOD!
Currently reading Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom......not too far in so I am not ready to give a recommendation.
If you like Christian fiction, I would highly recommend The Shack by Paul Young and Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.
Oh and if you haven't read Twilight.......YOU GOT TO!
Okay, I am done! LOL

Oh, my word! Be prepared to be hooked! I have read them all but the newest (waiting to borrow it from my sister) - the perfect fluffy read! :D

I adore the Stephanie Plum number series. I haven't gotten any of the non-number ones yet. I wait and then buy it in paperback. I have all of them so far :)

Time Travelers wife TOTALLY confused me - I kept asking why - Why does he travel?????

The best Chic Lit that I LOVE and made me almost pee my pants -
Bitter is the new black By Jen Lancaster

PS I love you ROCKED - The book was better than the movie and had me crying - the author just did another book - It was about a blood donor - Really cute but not as good -

I LOVED P.S I love You
I read it before it was even a movie haha (movie was good...but book was better)
I wan tto read Best Friends Forever by Jennifer Weiner...I d/l a sample on the kindle but I want the actual book lol

yep I have an NIV/The Message Parallel Bible..love it!

Darkly Dreaming Dexter. I was on a roll with it, but then I got the new Professor Layton DS game for Christmas and now I play that at night before bed instead. LOL

The Book Thief (LOVE IT)
Poisionwood Bible - (eh.... Just started ...praying it gets better)

I thoroughly enjoyed both of these. Poisonwood Bible is NOT fun to read, but it's incredibly thought-provoking and challenges many assumptions. EXCELLENT book club book. Just loved the Book Thief.

ok girls! You are the best ever!! I will for sure try to get some of these!!

I finished up Dear John just a bit ago and I liked it! IT wasn't my fave book ever, but it wasn't bad. :) LOL

Dexter by Design. I cannot stomach the tv series at all, but the books are amazing. I don't want to finish this one yet since it's the most recent, but I've got no choice since it's a library book.

I'm 'listening' to Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver (it's what I do when I work in the mornings and everyone's still asleep)

I'm reading a few gardening books and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

Still trying to finish up #3 in Percy Jackson series as a preead for Connor..I'm giving up, though, and letting him just read it. I hate Greek mythology :P

Uggh! I really didn't like Prodigal Summer. There was just so much sex! I was really disappointed because I loved the Poisonwood Bible. It's made me hesitant to try her other books, although I do want to read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle.

AV&M changed my life, honestly...I may not be able to become homesteaders like she is now, but we're working towards starting!

I guessed you would have read this one, Darcy! I've heard a lot of really great things about it.

I'm reading Shadow Puppets by Orson Scott Card. It's a sequel to Ender's Game, which I HIGHLY recommend. Amazing books.

Before that, I finished the 12th book in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Pretty much one of the best fantasy series ever.
