what does mash mean?

I'm working with Dear Diary right now. There's an element that says "mash" on it.

i have no idea what this means :confused:. Can anyone enlighten me?

i feel so out of it.
 
Well, back when I was in school we used to play MASH (Mansion, Apartment, Shack and House). Is this what this is supposed to refer to??
 
Yes, it is that origami-ish game where you write down words on each flap and then some numbers and someones picks a number and you move the paper thing that many times and then you open the flap you land on and whatever it says inside is you fortune... so basically that is a long way of saying it is an old school fortune telling thing. lol
 
how do you play mash?

the only mash I can think of referred to kissing. if i remember correctly. that was YEARS ago.

You write down 5 things for each category (guys name, # of kids, locations to live, cars to drive, futur job etc), then you pick a favorite number. You take that number and go around and around and around. Whatever you land on when you get to that number, you cross off, until there's only 1 thing left in each category. Then that's your future.
 
i don't think i've ever played this.

omg, was it invented AFTER my childhood? i feel so old. :blink:

We always just made lists... we had M A S H at the top of a page then had many categories with 3-4 things under each one:

examples:
Who we would marry (list 3-4 names)
Car we would drive (3-4)
Color of wedding dress (don't know why)
What we would be when we grew up
who our best friend would be
when we would get married
how many kids we would have
etc, etc

Then you pick a number somehow (I could tell you how I did, but it would make no sense... one person starts drawing a spiral and the other person says stop... then you count how many spirals to the inside--anyone else do this???)

Then you start with the M in Mash and count that many and move down all the options. If the number was 7, you count to seven and cross out that item. Once a category only has one option, that's the answer and you skip it. You keep counting to 7 and crossing out options until each category has one left.

Okay, am I bored or just a nerd? I can't believe I just typed this up. I hope you can appreciate it mimi. :)
 
I haven't thought of that game in years...I can almost smell the exhaust from a Yellow Bus on our way to a Volleyball game....ahh the memories. I can feel a LO coming on!
 
Oh man, that took me so long to type there are a million new responses and col's answer was much shorter and just the same as mine! Oh boy. I need to go back to bed.

My answers all came up to how my life is right now except for the place we would live (but maybe that's a sign we will move to that area, like I want to)!!! LOLOL! I'm such a nerd!
 
Sarah.... we played the exact same way!!! We did the spirals for the number so you couldn'tcheat and we added lots of extra categories!
 
I was wondering the same thing! I just thought I was the only crazy one :confused:

LOL :) I'm so glad some of you got where I was going with that one. What a crazy thing for me to put in a kit eh? I couldnt resist...seemed so oddly perfect.
 
I :wub: MASH. Not to brag, but I *did* end up with Zack Morris and a Lambourghini (sp?) a couple times back in the day.

We also did the color of your bridesmaid dresses & the color of your flowers. Sometimes, we cheated and would put down .5 kids. HA.

how do these little games start? how is that it's known by so many of you who I assume grew up in different places. interesting . . .
 
I love MASH! I can't remember the boys I put in though, probably Kirk Cameron, Michael J. Fox and whoever else was big in 1987.
