Super Bowl

I just realized that the Super Bowl is this Sunday. (It is, right?) I think my husband will have a way to watch it. We don't have cable/satellite but we do have old fashioned rabbit ears if it's broadcast on a local station and we have Amazon Prime that we can access with the TV. (I think I saw that one of the ways it's being streamed is with Amazon Prime.)

Now I need to figure out some game day foods and snacks before I go grocery shopping. Do you have some tried and true favorites? Since it's just the three of us to eat it, I don't need a huge amount of party foods but I do want to give him a touch of the party atmosphere. lol I'm thinking brats with sauerkraut, a cheesy/meaty dip (velveeta, rotel, ground beef) and sausage balls. That's all a bunch of meaty stuff. lol And I'm laser focused on what I eat these days so I probably won't want any of it. If I do the brats, then I don't need to do the 'lil smokies in BBQ sauce. And don't need to do sandwich sliders. Sigh. It's not like I've got a crowd coming over.

So, what do YOU make for the super bowl or such occasions?:confused::confused:

I think I'll "also" make chili in a crockpot. Lean beef, beans, etc. I'd be happy eating that and they can have some, too. (So much meat stuff! lol)

The SB is local...at Levi's stadium. The SF Bay Area has tons going on right now- concerts, watch parties, celebs at other sporting events. I will have it on the TV but will probably scrapbook while watching. Friends are hosting a SB party...I am sure my son will go and I will stop by and say hi.

As for food...I have to ask the kids but they love chips/ranch dip and lil smokies.
We have to get through Sr Night for HS soccer and then I will work on our SB plans.

We don't normally watch the Super Bowl. We really don't watch sports at all. We did have a Super Bowl party one year, but other than that, it's just a normal day for us.

I haven't actually watched the Super Bowl for several years. I got tired of seeing certain teams in it. But I will watch this year. I've been a fan of the Seahawks for many years going back to the days of Steve Largent. And, I'm a fan of Jaxon Smith-Njibga, a former Ohio State player. Need to decide whether to watch it on NBC or Peacock.

I have never gone to a party preferring to watch on my own. So I don't do any thing special food wise. Might fix popcorn during halftime to snack on during the 2nd half.

We usually watch at least the first half of the Super Bowl every year, whether we go to a party or not. We canceled our regular streaming service a year ago and haven't missed it, so if we DO want to watch this year, we hope someone invites us over for a party! The food is definitely a huge draw for me, and I think I might just come over to YOUR house, Char! Sounds like you're gonna have an amazing spread!

Go Seahawks! As you can imagine, Seattle is a little crazy with anticipation for Sunday!

I think I signed up for Peacock last year to watch the Superbowl... but honestly, I'll keep it on in the background so I know what's going on, but probably won't be that dialed in.

For snacks, I do love the chili with cream cheese dip and tortilla chips. Also a big fan of BBQ meatballs.

Not a sports person, so no Super Bowl festivities for me. I think the only time I've watched any of the Super Bowl was a couple of years ago when the Chiefs were in it and Taylor Swift was there because my Swifties wanted to Taytay spot haha :D

My school is having a SB potluck among the staff and I'm bringing meatballs. It's the one where you mix grape jelly and bbq sauce/chili sauce. It's a simple dish. I'm all for simplicity.

My husband is a huge Seahawks fan and is thrilled they are in the Super Bowl this year. I'm still trying to decide if I want to invite people over to watch it with us or not.

I usually make the 7 layer taco dip. I might add the meatballs that Mary mentioned above, have some kind of veggie tray situation and then some yummy dessert. Last year we did a charcuterie tray and that was delish also.

Thanks for the ideas. :) I can't say I'm a big fan of making a bunch of "finger foods" or such since I wind up having to pack a lot of it away in the fridge. But, if I only make one "party" food, it won't seem very special. lol I think Rich will be thrilled with the few things I do make. I will try to just make a half size amount of the Rotel/Meat/Cheese dip. I don't think we need the whole amount and I don't know that it would reheat well.

Don't really watch football. But normally tune in to see the half time show! Looking forward to Green Day and Bad Bunny!!!

Well.... Pats fan here... clearly in the minority in this thread lol! Never expected to see them in the SB this year. My sister and family are HUGE fans and get together every Sunday during football season to watch the games. I will likely join them on Sunday... not sure what the food plan is yet.

Well, I have to admit that I don't watch football including the Super Bowl. I may stop to take a glance as I'm passing through the room. I'm just providing the family with some "game day" food. lol

Pretty sure I would be disowned by my mom if I wasn't a seahawks fan! lol I have so many childhood memories of her yelling at the tv on sundays! ;) So yes, we're definitely watching. In general, we watch a lot of football (and hockey) as my hubby & son participate in a fantasy dad/son league every year and our hockey billet boys are usually football fans too.

For food- my son requested my popcorn crack in seahawk colors (hubby makes a ton of stove popped popcorn, then I slather it with (green & blue in this case) chocolate, sprinkles & other yummy stuff. I have blue & green m&m's to go into it this year. He's also requested my crockpot little smokies- basically just a homemade bbq type of sauce but so good! Not sure what else- hubby was thinking maybe huge batch of wings since we have all 6 of us to feed at least.

Ooooh, Amie, that chocolate-covered popcorn sounds absolutely delicious!

We're a "sports-ball" family; as my husband says, if someone is willing to put themselves in danger for his entertainment, he enjoys watching it. <sigh> So the Super Bowl will definitely be on - which is great, because I can continue sewing away in my studio without feeling guilty. :)

To keep things easy this year, I picked up a container of our favorite queso from Sam's Club as well as a gigantic bag of tostada chips, and I'll make up some taco meat so my hubby can make nachos.

I think my favorite Super Bowl treat is Bacon Corn Dip (the recipe is at Damn Delicious here) but it's totally my kryptonite. I'll eat it by the spoonful and polish off an embarrassing amount if I'm not careful... so I'm skipping it this year. :)

My husband is choosing not to watch the Superbowl this year, so no idea what we will do. Maybe binge watch a movie or show that day after Church instead.

I may do some fun foods though, just because!

eh- I can take or leave superbowl.... my son, who is a massive nfl fan - doesn't matter who is playing... isn't coming home from college this weekend. So its just the two of us. My husband might have the game on, not sure.

Food - in the past my son always wanted to make personal sized pizza and he would decorate it, etc. I'll probably make taco dip as that is one of my husband's favs... maybe chili? I don't know... haha. I guess I better start thinking as I might need to go to the store.

We always do some kind of football food spread, we're Lions' fans, so until recently we haven't been close, LOL!

We enjoy watching and the commercials, usually.

I'll make some Street Corn Dip, Wings, Pigs in a Blanket, Kitchen Sink Cookies and we grabbed some mini tacos from Sams. Then we'll probably have leftovers on Monday, so win win!

I hate to admit this but I just had to ask someone who was going to be playing in the Super Bowl! I was shocked when I was told that the Chiefs weren't playing! :)

Evelyn, I had to ask, too. lol My husband will probably just watch the first half. We'll see. I told him I'd be having some "fun foods" for the occasion but not the whole shebang. (lol Does anyone still say that phrase?)

That's awesome that you will have special snacks! I will have to think of something to make for Tod! Also, I like the term shebang!
