Maddie woke up at 1 am saying that her eyes were burning and swollen. I told her it's ok, calm down and we headed down to the kitchen to get her some Benadryl (figured allergies)...well when I turned on the lights and saw her poor eyes I freaked out (I acted calm for her). We went up to show Dennis and he agreed to send her to the ER.
I attached a photo, but I warn you, it looks terrible. You can hardly recognize her. Anywho the ER folks were fab! Sweetest female Doc, said she has Perioptical Cellulitis. She said that it is viral and what probably happened is Maddie came in contact with someone who just had a cold or whatever, but instead of getting a swollen throat or whatever it manifested itself in the soft tissue of her eyes. She has NEVER had anything this bizarre. She is sooo much better today compared to last night, but still very very swollen. They aren't as sore today either which is a good thing!
