Please help me settle this!

Easter eggs vs Nickelodeon totally made me LOL.

I agreed with Everyone that lime green is NOT pastel, lolol. I like LA's idea to email the decider of pastels to confirm or not, and then send out the proper graphic to everyone. Which, should have done in the first place. "Pastels" is FAR too open to interpretation for a photo with 45 people I it.

oh I can't wait to see this photo...I would say let the hubby wear the lime green and just take a "backup" pastel shirt for him to wear if he stands ou like a sort thumb.

Oh, dat be smart! That way if everyone else took the bright version of pastel route, you don't look like the mean wife who said no and if they all took the normal route of pastel, you are the wife who saved the day by discreetly packing the right color.

I think we're all biased because we work with color on a regular basis, so we know without question those are not pastels.

Who has decided to wear pastels? That should be the person to contact to ask what they mean by pastel and if you're supergood to then email a swatch of the example colors out to everyone who's supposed to be in the picture so that they know Ms. Color Decider's definition of pastels = x.

But I'm a super photo nerd like that and I'd have a hard time hanging up a pic in my house of my fam if half the people look like Easter eggs and the other half look like they belong on a Nickelodeon kids' show. :)

That is why I told him to email his sister because she is the one in charge and is the one that told everyone to wear pastels (although, I think she is consulting with his mom and dad because she told me her dad specifically doesn't want any white or ivory - he wants color). So, I have been debating on emailing her back requesting her to let everyone else know that it is a little bit broader than "pastels". I also have a photo of my husband wearing this lime green shirt and I thought I might send it to her and show her what he is planning on wearing. I am still picturing in my head everyone showing up in these pale, muted colors and my husband showing up in a bright lime green shirt.

I do like the idea of packing a back up pastel shirt. That way I can just let it go for now. Then I can just let other family members tell him it doesn't work. You guys are full of great solutions!

I don't know what kind of shirt you are planning, but I've seen pastel men's polo shirts at Kohls and button up shirts at Lands End. uuuugggh!! My computer is acting up, so sorry for the long links.

I'd get in touch with her to clairfy pastel, because possibly her idea of pastel is that original color palette. 45 people are going to interpret that differently without swatches & I bet you end up with an assortment of light, bright and soft colors.

We're doing a family photo this summer. My SIL & I talked about colors but even 'red' is open to interpretation so we are doing males in white and females in black

This thread is so funny. Family photo when the kids were small was "jewel tones"...boy leave that up to interpretation and you get all kinds of ugly.

Yeah, I would definitely not call the original palette pastel but if that's what the organizer wanted she needs to clarify with everyone that she wants bright/tropical and include a swatch. sounds like a fun get-together though and I hope the photo turns out great! (wishing now I had thought ahead and planned something for my grandmother's 90th birthday party earlier this month!)
