Back from the doctor...

...they scheduled me for another procedure. The results from the biopsy came back CIN III, Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia, level III, which means I have severe dysplasia (abnormal cells) If it had made it through one more level of my cell, it would be cancerous. So, on April 2nd, they'll do a LEEP procedure (sounds better to me than the previous biopsy because although it's a more serious procedure, atleast I'll flippin' be anesthetized, unlike the biopsy where I felt everything! They will attempt to remove all the abnormal cells and then we'll do another biopsy in 4 months to see how fast the cells are mutating. If the biopsy comes back bad again in 4 months, we'll pursue other treatment. If it comes back fine, I'll have to have two more biopsies before I'm 'in the clear' and can go back to an annual pap instead of 4 a year!

So there's my news. Thanks for your well wishes!

p.s. Oh, and if anyone has been wondering, I have HPV. Got it from my first husband 10 years ago. And it's been hell ever since. It is what causes all of this.

Man Lena, that blows. But, it sounds like you've got a good plan in place :)
I'll keep my fingers crossed that the procedure gets everything and you can go back to normal paps soon :)

I had abnormal cells a few years ago, and they did a colposcopy (no idea how to spell it) to remove the cells. It was terrifying, including teh multiple paps a year for a year following. So I know (a little) what you're going through!

Sorry to hear about all this hun. However I have been there and done all of that.
I have HPV as well. Found out when I was 21. Not sure exactly where it came from. I've also had the LEEP. Had this done when I was 21 as well. It honestly wasnt bad at all. They only numb you down there, you are awake for the whole thing or at least I was. I had 2 spots, one was level II and one was level III. The recovery time was the worst only because it seemed like it took forever!

If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them.

Well, in the grand scheme of things, this is good news since they caught it early, right? I hope the treatment works and you can put this behind you. Hugs!!

(My mom had this done many, many years ago and has been clear ever since!)

Oh Lena, I am so sorry you have to deal with this. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that everything will be just fine. (((HUGS)))

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and saying a prayer for you!! I hope everything goes well!!

I just went through my second biopsy on the 17th and it's no fun playing the waiting game. I finally got my results back today.

Hugs and prayers
Kim

I also have Hpv from my husband and had abnormal cells a couple years ago, so I can KIND OF relate. (((((HUGS!!!!))))) I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers :D

I'm one of the few that has had pre-cancerous cells and not had HPV (I tested negative). I have had them twice. The first time (2002), I had the cryo-surgery. Horrible, nasty cramps from that, and several years later I got the abnormal cells again. That's when I had the LEEP surgery - much better procedure. And from what my doctor has said LEEP has a better success rate of the abnormal cells not returning. That was in 2006 and no abnormal cells yet...
I wish you the best of luck. Keep us up-to-date...

Lena, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers....

My Daughter also has had both a Colposcopy and the Leep procedure done....I do remember her telling me that the biopsy was, by far the worst part of it pain wise....

Lena, that just sucks! I am praying for you that this procedure gets rid of all the bad stuff and you can resume life as usual!!! (((hugs)))

Thanks Girls!!! I will really REALLY be glad when this is all over. I've had half a dozen biopsies since Naomi was born, and it's just getting really old.

Due to some new TMI issues that developed overnight, I am supposed to "take it easy" this weekend and come in Monday for an ultrasound to check for fibroids and polyps, plus take a blood panel due to see if any of the post partum problems I was having that caused me to have the four blood transfusions are rearing their ugly head.

I'd give anything to be on a tropical island, sans uterus, with a cotton candy cosmo right now :p

Oh sweety, I am so so sorry that you have had to go through all this. I am going to be thinking of you (already have been) Big hugs!!!!
