Hey hey chicky babies!

As you may have seen in last week's newsletter, our team is working on an awesome new publication called Simply Sweet!

In each issue, we'd love to answer anything and everything related to the site and our designers so I thought I'd see if you guys have any questions you want to throw out there for us!

If we select your question to be used in the mag, you'll get a free copy of the debut issue and a free kit from the shoppe - so get creative and ask our staff the questions you're dying to have answers to! Silly, sweet, design questions, scrap questions, specific person questions - anything and everything - we're ready for ya!

Please post your questions here in this thread by midnight EST Sunday, April 5th and dont forget to include your name and location too!

Can't wait to see your questions for our team!

Thanks so much for your help,

Robin

Ive got a few...changing to a specific designer to make the questions a little more specific and since Traci Reed has been my favorite designer since I started these are for her :-)

1.Which do you like better designing or scrapping?
2.When you are scrapping do you like to use your own designs or do you have a favorite designer you turn to?
3.How did you get started in designing?
4.What would you tell someone who wants to start designing themselves?
5.I have scrapper's block occasionally...do you get a creative block when designing and if you do how do you overcome it?

1. Why is robin insistent on loving evil llamas?
2. Is there anyway that I can convince her that goats ARE in fact, way better?

She's insistent on loving llamas because llamas are clearly better than smelly goats and no, there is NO way you'll be able to convince her otherwise. Rumor has it that she's taken a recent liking to giraffes and donkeys tho.

1. Robin - When you started this site, in your wildest dreams did you imagine it would be so successful?
2. Robin - Will you ever respect the goat?
3. How many of your designers have contracts with paper companies?
4. How long does that average kit take to create?
5. How does if feel to have such an awesome community?

Giraffes and donkeys over llamas.. any day.

I would love to see what each designer's favor item is that they created. (that is presently in the store)

1. What's your favorite self-designed kit? Where did you get the inspiration for it?

2. Which is easier to create? Papers, elements, or alphas?

3. What program(s) do you use to design?

4. What has been the strangest source of inspiration for a kit that you've designed?

5. On average, how long does it take for you to create a kit from start to finish?

Robin--What's the most rewarding part of running this site? What's the most difficult?
Designers--What's your fave kit (of your own) and why?
Babes--What's the best part of being a babe?
Darcy--What advice can you give scrappers who'd like to incorporate more journaling on their pages?
Anyone--What's the funniest thing (think blooper) that's happened on the site? Tell about it.
Anyone--Where do you see yourself (design/scrap/owner-wise) in 1 year? In 5?

:)

Great Q's guys! Keep em coming.

As I'm reading these, I thought I should mention, it'll be easier for us to answer specific design questions if you aim them toward a specific designer rather than a general group Q.

Same with specific scrap questions - is there a Babe whose work you admire? Feel free to ask how they achieve a specific look.

You guys ROCK!

Goat milk is actually really yummy. I vote for this!! LOL

My question:
Can I be a site CT??? I'd be really delicious sugarbabe and I promise to put out! :D Hahahaha

OK, the serious, real question:
How do you determine which designers to invite to the design team of SSD? Do you look into their styles to fit an overall theme for SSD, or maybe groom scrappers to become designers?

What's the deal with llamas and goats? Seriously!
Robin...did you ever in your wildest dreams think that SSD would be so successful?
CindyS...I've admired your work since about the time I started scrapping. How do you pick what elements to use and do you use specific shadows to create such depth?

Zoe - Where do you draw your inspiration from and how do you decide what designs are better digital and which for paper?

Robin - How did you decide to start SSD and what are your dreams for it's future and continued success?

Great questions. Here's some from me for Robin:

Will you ever consider having a praising team here perhaps called the Praise babes?

I own all your SSD collabs! I was just wondering, what sort of things do you consider when making these collabs? Do you start with a color scheme? An element idea?

What advice would you give to those of us pining to be Babes one day?

I have a really important question for Robin & La...

Which do you prefer: Llama's cheese or Goat Cheese.

Thanks!

For Cindy...

How do you organize things that you are able to pull so many different kits together into a cohesive layout? How do you layer like that. Spill your secrets, woman. :D :D :D

Shauren- what began the saga? How did you two team up? And how do you make such awesome stuff- is there special fairy dust in your computer?

Kristin - Your colour schemes for your kits are amazing. Where and how do you get your colour scheme inspiration?

Libby, How do you come up with your kit titles?
Cindy S- How long does it take you to complete a layout from start to finish?
Robin- What's the best selling item in the store?

Question for CindyG or one of the hybrid babes... What supplies or tools would you recommend that a digital scrapper who is interested in trying some hybrid projects invest in, if any? (assuming I have scissors, adhesive, etc. beyond that.) What is a good project for a beginner to try?

Question for Sammi- You create pages with lovely photo blending effects. What techique do you use (overlay, soft light, brushes) and do you have any tips? Also, what is your favorite page you've created in this style?

Question for Zoe- I love your alphas. Where do you get your inspiration for the alphas you create, and what is your favorite alpha?

My question:
Can I be a site CT??? I'd be really delicious sugarbabe and I promise to put out! :D Hahahaha

Hey! This girl took my question right out of my head! Bwaaahahahaaa!
Just kidding - I'm taking it from her!

But good question!

My question is for Sweet Shoppe Designs as a whole - did any of you know each other before SSD - I mean in real life? What about in digi-land?
How did SSD come about??

Babes - can a bunch of you start scrapping really crappy so there will be another call soon? :) KIDDING!

For everyone - tell us what it's like behind the scenes, does everyone get along/everything run as smooth as it seems or is it totally chaos?

I have a few...

1. La, where do you get your MAD doodle skills and what kind of graphic pen/tablet do you use to draw them?
2. SeatteSheri: how do you do your amazing shadow work? what is the technique you use and can we possibly get a general tutorial on shadow work :)
3. Meg: How do you manage to keep up with that AMAZING challenge tracker while being a Sugarbabe and awesome mom?
4. Robin: what do the girls look for when they are picking the LOTW and the Gallery standouts every week?
5. Robin: who came up with the FOBTY challenge? Just think it is kinda fun and curious where it came from :)
6. Darcy: Where do you get all your font ideas from and what is the process that goes into making a font?

Wowzers! What great questions you all are asking!!! I can't wait for the publication to come out so I can read all the answers!

Ooh I thought of another question...

What's the 'real' story behind the tacos?

Mmmmmm....Tacos.

I don't have time to read through this, so just skip me if these have already been asked:

What kind of decision process do you go through when picking designers and Babes? Is it something that is agonized over for days, or do you already have ideas? What are the qualifications for each position?

Questiona for the Babes:
1-Once being asked onto the team, what was the first thing you snagged to use?? You know...the one thing you had been drooling over and were so excited to get to use?

For the challenge makers:
2-SSD is known for fab challenges. What is the inspiration for most of them? where do you go for ideas for what to do next?

For Designers:
How long does it take you to make a kit and where do the ideas come from?

For the whole team:
I have seen many a controversial topic brought up around here, but you rarily see a catfight! It's amazing! So many things are brought up and talked about and yet everyone is so happy and friendly! When the site was started did you have any idea how tight and close knit this group would be?? Was it something that you expected because the beginning team was already so close??

...ok I'll stop! I have lots of questions! lol! I love this team! I am so excited to see this project though!!

-I'm HIGHLY ORGANIZED but to be honest, I don't scrap nearly as often as I'd love to and my kids watch too much TV when I hang out here during the day :o

and I'm not Robin but I can answer the LOTW and GSO question for when I do it. I think we all have different criteria. I try and choose people that haven't been chosen recently and I go back 7 days in the gallery and sometimes view up to 70 pages of layouts before I choose the LOTW or the 4 LOS to showcase on the blog. I look for a great photo and one that "goes" well with the kit. I love unique ways to use elements and great shadow work. I like when I can tell people put a great amount of time into their layout.

Oh... so many questions!! Which ones to ask?

Even though you wanted specific questions, I am dying to know from each of the designers... what was your defining moment that made you start designing? Was it a whim or was there other motives? Are you graphic designers by trade?

All - How many ideas/kits do you have going at one time? Where do you find the mojo? If you paper scrap, do you feel your style has changed in digital or stayed true?

Traci - How do you do it? Design, DigiDare, School, kids... AND find time to scrap! What is your organizing secrets?

Bree - Outside of desiging in thirds and triangles... what other design rules make a layout rock?

I have one for Cindy:

I am soooo amazed at your layering and use of so many different goodies on your LO's! What is your system for organizing your files so you can easily find so many things?

How come you don't pick your treat of the months from members of the forum here?

I've noticed a lot of the ladies you pick don't frequent SSD, just wondering why you guys go outside of the community for them.
