Ask SSD!

What is something that goes on "behind the scene" that we would all be surprised to know about?

Who was the first designer you hired at SSD and what did her kit look like?

If all the designers/CT's voted on their favorite, what kit would win?

How come you don't pick your treat of the months from members of the forum here?

I've noticed a lot of the ladies you pick don't frequent SSD, just wondering why you guys go outside of the community for them.

Honestly, we try to mix it up between people who hang out here (Sammi, Nikki, Amy, etc) and people who dont - when we choose a TOTM from outside the site, our hope is to bring inspiration to you that you may not see if you tend to frequent SSD more than you explore the rest of the digital community. The goal of anything we do here is to inspire you, so we like to tap as many resources as possible to do that!

OK for us newbies:

What is the deal with the goats? Where did it come from, was it a thread that someone had started and it ran from there?

What are the responsibilities of a sugarbabe, hybrid babe? How are they chosen? How are designers chosen? I guess give us the scoop on all the behind the scene info here.

My question is..What technique took your scrapping to the next level? What was the first page you finished that made you step back and say WoW!!

New Mexico--I have a hard time admitting that I am
in New Mexico when I am Texan in every fiber of my being.
The things you do to get a husband.:p

When will the next call for the sugar babes be?!! What do you look for ie LO design, active in forum etc? Who decides who the new sugar babes will be? How do you decide, do you vote? What's required of a sugar babe? What are the benefits of being a sugar babe? Can you tell I'm interested in the sugar babes?!!!! :p

Robin - How do you choose designers for your site? Do they apply to you or do you approach them? Have you set a maximum number of designers for the site or do you just keep adding them? Are there any new designers on the horizon? If a designer leaves SSD what is the most common reason? Have many left? Other sites seem to have designers coming and going all the time whereas SSD doesn't - what do you think you do better/differently compared to these sites?

Behind the scenes - how many hours a week do you work on keeping SSD running? How many people work with you?

Designers - with the current economic climate have you noticed a downturn in sales? If so, has this changed the amount of time you spend designing?

How many designers are exclusively designing and not working in another job?

My location - Perth, Western Australia

My questions:

Sara--Where do you get the inspiration for your kits?
Melissa--Where do you start when you're designing? A color scheme? An element? A theme?
Misty--What's the most important lesson you've learned (as far as designing/marketing goes) since you started designing?
Robin--For a designer who one day aspires to be a Sweet Shoppe designer, what should she do? What do you look for? Do you have calls? Do you seek out designers? What's the criteria? How does a designer stand out and get your attention? ;)

That makes sense.

Oh, I got one.

Are there any designers out there right now that applied or asked to be designers at SSD that you turned down and now looking back said I totally should have said yes, they turned out to be huge.

this is a great idea! just what is it that makes the Sweet Shoppe so darned sweet??

for Robin: what have you learned over time and is the key to the site's success?

I have one question for Robin and all the SSD designers: Have you ever encountered a MALE doing digital scrapbooking?

Me, personally, none, even though I tried to persuade my friend to do a little photobook for his daughter's 1st Communion with scrapbooking method... however, he still resists :D

Incredible! Your layouts look gorgeous!

Well, I must tell my friend not to be afraid to start scrapping :) Maybe he'll join us someday...
