Are you a Thread Killer? Let the Game Begin!

We are T-Minus 2.5 hours until start of game time. I saw this and thought it appropriate. (I hope no one takes offense. This is meant light-heartedly)

Our Father who art in Saint Louis, Baseball be thy game.
Thy will be done, the World Series will be won, on the field, as well as in the bullpen.
Give us this day our bat and glove, and forgive us our errors, as we forgive those who homeun against us.
Lead us not into defeat, but...help us BEAT THE RANGERS.
In the name of the fans, Pujols, Freese, Carpenter and the Cardinals... Amen.

GO CARDINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning (or afternoon or evening ;)) ladies! I hope you have (or had) a great day! I'm going to have a great day...I've decided! (Plus, today's my last day this week and I have a 4-day weekend! w00t!)

We won game #1, Donna! Only 3 more to go and we've got this thing in the bag!

Bring on the 4-day weekend! I'm gonna scrap and do laundry LOL. (And play with my little girl, too, of course!)

Popping in quick....

we had an amazing day at MK yesterday. Today we started out the day at ANimal Kingdom, and we're back at the hotel to rest for an hour or two and then head out to dinner and to watch the fireworks. This day has been amazing <3

Ladies, we are not being very chatty this week. I have a sneak peak to post tonight, but I'm not sure I'm going to make it another hour. So sleepy. Lol.

My Cardinals lost their game last night in the ninth inning...it was heartbreaking. That's ok. We can let them have a game (or even two). Best of 7! We can totally do this!

I'm on my four-day weekend as we speak! I'm doing laundry and getting ready to head to the store. My DD keeps singing "Just me and Mommy today!!" Makes my heart melt!

Today is our last full day here :(

Tomorrow morning will just be packing up and hitting the road, as we have to get home early enough for a friends birthday dinner. I don't wanna leave!

Awww, all good things must come to an end, Jen. You've had an awesome time, though! Can't wait to see all the pics and LOs you'll be doing!

Glad you're having such a fun time, Jen! It sounds amazing! :)

Enjoy your last few days and have a safe trip back!

Oh no! Sorry the lost, Kate! At least they have one win down!

Enjoy your 4 day weekend, sweetie! :)

P.S. I ::shocked:: my family when they were flipping thru the channels and I saw the Cards, and I was like, "this is the world series here...yep, it's the cards vs the rangers" my sporty son was like "no way" and my sweet hubby confined that indeed, mom's sport insight was correct, lol! (highly unusual for this gal - haha).

I totally LOVE that Andrea!

Have fun on your getaway. Fingers crossed that the kids keep getting along!

I'd love to have an iPad. I'm going to settle for a Kindle for Christmas, though, methinks. I already spend too much time on electronics. I often go to bed feeling guilty, so I have to stay away!

LOL, I'm 35 and still don't have my licence. I actually don't plan to get it. Ever. It's a very happy life. :-)

Haha ... She wants it, she just doesn't want to reead what she has already read. Kinda lazy on her part. ;) I could not imagine not having a licence. Saves you a lot of money!! HEhe!! :)

I have an iPad that I had to have after we went to Hawaii. I was envious of all the people in the airport reading and surfing the internet.

... I don't use mine near enough. I HATE typing on it and actually feel really guilty for even buying it.

Maybe in the US it's more necessary than here really. I can do with public transport and walking very nicely. If I need to go to a place where public transport fails (and this happens more in Luxembourg than in Bratislava), I ask someone to drive me - since it's usually IKEA and such, it makes sense since normally I wouldn't be able to carry my purchase alone anyway (furniture boxes are kind of too heavy for one woman). If I need to get home at night, I take a taxi. I'm pretty sure that what I spend on taxis in a year doesn't even come near to the cost of petrol (and petrol is much more expensive here). I can see the point of a car - the independence and such, but I don't see the need for it in my life really.

If your daughter wants to drive, she needs a licence - she will need to learn. She will find it out soon enough. IMHO, 16 is too young for driving, but nobody is interested in my opinion anyway. ;-)

A lot of this might be where you're from, you're right. One of my sisters and my brother in Germany neither one drive, because both take public transport everywhere. When I was in Germany, we mostly took public transport, too... we even took the train from Hamburg to Berlin instead of a car. The only time we even took a car was once, when they took me to the airport and we got stuck on the Autobahn for 5 hours because of a car accident ahead of us that shut down the whole road. Her parents were big Tina Turner fans even though they don't understand the words, so we listened to their Tina Turner CD on repeat for the entire 5 hours. :dies: But in almost a month, to only be in a car once is very strange for me... I started driving when I was 14 (we could get a learning permit here where we had to drive with parents), and could drive independently to/from school and work at 15 (with a different special permit), and totally independently everywhere at 16. I've never been in an accident, never gotten pulled over by a cop, nothing. For me, it is cheaper- we have only one public transport option, and it only comes to my town once every week, and then it's usually not going anywhere I go, plus I would have to drive to get to the stop. But, petrol is MUCH more expensive there (as much as 4-5 times as much as here), so it is REALLY easier to not drive there, I think.

You summed it up very accurately. The price of petrol is very different here. Distances are much shorter. Public transport is better (AND employers can make contracts with the city to have their employees to travel for free in the city as an incentive to make people use public transport rather than drive - which mine does, so for me city transport is very cheap indeed). The independence of driving is rather cool, I admit, and responsibility is not ageelated, so we both are right in a way. :-) And loads of people I know think I'm a weirdo for not driving, heh. I think I only know about 3 people who don't have a licence. :-)

When I moved here 10 years ago what really got me was that you cannot drive until 18 but you can drink alcohol at 16. My 38 yr old friend just finally got her license this year.

But you are right, public transportation is much better here than in the US. Like Jenni I was driving well before I turned 16. We lived 50 miles outside of town in the desert in a literal ghost town. Needless to say there was no form of public or even school bus transportation available.

Most of my European friends didn't learn how to drive until they were in their late twenties or early thirties. Europeans have much better access to buses, even in villages, and can take trains to get into the bigger cities, where they can use subways and the underground to get around. Also, even if you go shopping to buy a big ticket item, you don't usually transport it yourself. You go to look at large items at a store, place an order, and set up for delivery. University towns are full of bicycles. And towns and cities in Europe aren't really set up for cars. Think about it, they're centuries old. So you park your car on the outskirts of the town in a "park and ride" and then hop on a bus which takes you into town. (You could park in town, but you'll seriously pay for it there! The park and ride is much cheaper.) People in Europe tend to be in much better shape because they do a lot more walking too! I have friends who didn't get their driver's licenses until they were in their thirties. (Some countries have very, very difficult driving exams!)

Maybe we better take this to Darcy's thread? LOL! :p

I was just thinking it would be cool if all transportelated posts from this thread might be moved somewhere else so that we might continue without having the embarrassing feeling of OT-ing this one. :-)

Adrianka, you mentioned price of petrol, but also, does it cost much more to get a license there? Here it cost me about $25 to get my license, but in Germany, my sister paid over $200 for hers... I know some people in Europe who have spent over $1000 USD for their license...

I feel like I wouldn't really use an ipad, since I work from home, I have my computer handy, and when I'm not home, I use my iphone. But, for hubby, it has come in really handy for his work, and the kids play on it tons. I've hardly ever touched it, but I think it's neato! :)

If I had to choose between an iphone or an ipad, I would, hands down, choose an iphone! :) But that's just me. ;)

Trying to scrap an old wedding photo...it's way harder than I would have thought. It's not a traditional photo, so I don't want to scrap it traditionally. Sigh.
