A family trip to the D23 Expo....

Journaling reads:

Being Disney fans, we had heard about the D23 Expo and really wanted to go but since we had just got back from our Florida vacation to Disney World - we decided to pass on this convention. We felt that since it was going to be the weekend of Grandpa’s birthday - we might not be too in the mood to be there. But someone must have thought otherwise and we got a call from one of friends offering us 3 tickets to the expo. As luck would have it, once we got to the expo, a young girl had an extra ticket making it possible for all of us to go inside. And wow - was it spectacular as you would think any Disney type event could be. There were huge Mickey displays, places were you could get autographs and pictures with stars from some of the Disney shows and even a place where you could help plant trees for a “Friends for Change” project they were doing. I won’t lie it was a bit overwhelming because there was so much to see and do. Hayley was overjoyed to see that the Perry bus was there and of course that her favorite stars from Phineas and Ferb were on the stage signing autographs. Some booths had giveaways and we came away with Phineas and Ferb bags, manicures from the new MAC Disney Villians nail polish (both of you got the crackle kind of course!) and signed cartoon cells. There was even a huge booth dedicated soley to all the items that were to debut fo the new Disney Princess Designer collection - we just wanted it all. As a treat to all those who wennt to the expo, Disney was going to debut the new Lion King 3-D film and since we couldn’t pass that up - we waited in a long line with 500 people to see the special preview. Before the movie started, the film producers and some of the actors who played Pumba and Timon talked about the making of the film. It was a really wonderful treat especially when the actors started to sing some of the songs from the movie. When the movie started, people clapped and they laughed and yes, there were some tears......and it all seemed such a perfect ending to such a magical day. We are planning to make sure we go again next year and this time, we will visit all 3 days!
