I wanted to take the whole "depth" and "shadows" part of this challenge to another level so here's what I came up with :)

I used to think of myself as a pretty strong person. I have overcome so much in my life that it gave me confidence in my ability to overcome whatever life could throw at me. But that confidence was shattered this summer. I have never in my life come so close to a nervous breakdown and it was really scary. I tried to take on too much, thinking I could handle it. Thinking I was unbreakable. I learned the hard way that I do in fact have a breaking point. I’ve learned now that it’s better to accept our fragility and ask for help than to expect too much of ourselves and pay the consequences.
I need to allow myself to have my feelings. I need to share those feelings with others instead of carrying the burden on my own. I can’t be afraid to ask for help when I need it. Above all I need to remember that taking care of myself is just as important as taking care of others.
