Who's doing Elf on the Shelf this year :)

I just made a calendar with ideas for every day til Christmas. (He'll arrive when we put up our tree this weekend) I plan on taking photos of him and his antics every night and I thought it would be fun for us to share photos every day of what our elves are up to. :)

No way! I tried it one year (not exactly elf on a shelf - what's popular here is writing to santa for an elf and then the elf shows up the next day) and it was exhausting. The kids wanted the elves do something every. time. they. left. the. room.

This is our second year...last year I didn't do much creative with him..just had him in different places every morning. Every has already been asking when he's supposed to "get here" so the ideas I've got this year should be fun with him especially :)

I really want to do it this year. It looks like so much fun! Landon is going to flip! I haven't decided when ours will start. I don't know if it will be Dec 1 or if I will just do it the week before christmas. Still planning it out. I would love to see everyone's elf and the mischief they get into! :)

And Nikki......I think you should totally share you calendar. :)

Pretty much this exactly . . . down to the opinion that Nikki should show us her calendar. :p

We're doing it again. This is our third year. Elvin arrives on Dec 1 with the new Lego Advent Calendar.

I need to do up a list or calendar this year. Last year I spent most evenings at 11pm asking myself what the heck I could do with him this time.

you guys know there is a 30 minute TV show that is coming on CBS on Nov. 25&26th. I DVR'd it, thought it might really make it even more magical if the kdis see that first.

We did it last year, so fun! Last year, he hid and brought a note from santa every day with something for us to do to celebrate the season. This year, Buddy's feeling even more mischievous...

Traci, where did you get your elf? He looks different (cuter, less scary) than the one I've seen that everyone else has!

Thanks!

Here's the elf we're using. He's actually cuter in person than this crappy iphone photo. He's an actual Buddy the Elf from the movie and he has 'clippy arms' :p so he should get into some interesting situations. I got him like 7 years ago when the movie came out. If he drinks my sweet tea, however, he's in for it.

This is our first year doing it, and I'm so excited! I spent some time on Pinterest yesterday looking at different things to do. It made me even more excited. Can't wait to see what kind of trouble our little guy will get into, and to take pictures of it.

Vanessa - thanks for mentioning that TV special. I'm gonna go look for it now and get it set on the DVR.

No problem. I have it all set up to DVR too.

I really want to after seeing everyone's pins for it but I just don't know if it will be too much for me, doing the elf thing and our countdown activities!!! I might spend the next couple nights just pursuing some pinterest boards and if I can find some easier "set ups/stunts" maybe I'll just do the week leading up to Christmas!!!

We are doing it for the first time this year! I am very excited and I think ours will be here on December 1st. I was super excited that Target carried the Elf and the skirt this year!

We are doing it for the first time this year!!! We picked him up last week when my parents were in town and hubby and I got to go shopping for a bit!!!

What a cute idea, Nikki! :)

This will be year #2 for us. Our Elf on the Shelf, Ted (the kids named him, lol), always makes his debut on the Monday after Thanksgiving for family night. It's fun stuff. My kids have asked about him ::all::year long! :) Can't wait!

This will be our first year....gotta wait for the lil guy to get here though so we won't be starting until next week it looks like. I love seeing all the pins on Pinterest - some really cool ideas!

I might be off my rocker (ok well fine we all know the answer to that) but is it just me or does your little finn look like your elf?? doesn't he sorta??? so cute :)

we aren't doing the elf thing here.. I had thought about it but thats about as far as it got :P

this looks so fun!! they are in the hallmark right next to where I work just might have to pick me one up. It will look so fun to do as part of my Dec. Daily album. I'm trying to start new traditions with Emma this will be a good one.

I am totally jealous of you girls having fun with your elf. I went and bought the elf and the book, pinned like a mad woman on pinterst and was making my calendar of events. My hubby totally wigged out. Seriously thought it was the scariest thing ever and that I would scar the kids for life if we did this. It was a sad day yesterday when I had to return it to Target. I seriously cried in the car on the way home. I am so sad!!!!

In my hubby's defense..........we do have a very quirky kid so he MIGHT have been right. I don't know though. It just looks like A LOT of fun. Oh well......I am working on other fun traditions to start with the boys so hopefully there will be something fun to do this month.

I got this one: Christopher Pop-In-Kins. Also, there is a book that comes with but I'm just saying that there is a silly elf visiting. That's it. He's not reporting to santa. He's not watching. He's just going to be doing silly things. I personally feel more comfortable with that explanation. It's just fun. Plus, this elf looks pretty cute to me.
