Help Me Pick A Book...

I love all those murder-mysetery-thriller type authors...they're what I started out reading. Now I read more of an assortment (young adult, chick-lit, heavy fiction, memoirs), but always enjoy a good thriller! :)

Leah - I started reading the Shopaholic series...read the first one anyway. It wasn't as good as the first Sophie Kinsella book I read (The Undomestic Goddess), but I'll probably continue reading the series...

I am a TOTAL shopaholic though - so I could relate to her throwing her letters from the bank into a construction site!! hehehe

Did you know that she used to write under the name Madaleine something-er-other?? Her book The Gatecrasher was cute, different, but cute.

LOL Sara! Book sister :)

Is it Sandra Brown that does the Alhpabet books.....like R is for Ricochet?
Nope it's Sue Grafton. I haven't gotten into her.

I LOVE Janet Evanovich. I read all of her books straight through 2 summer ago. I'm dying for 13 to come out! Is it out yet? or soon? Sometimes I miss these things, lol. Jordan thinks I'm insane cuz I would read them in the car and literally laugh out loud at what was going on in them.

Dude, 13 has been out. 14 comes out in June. Plum Lucky is out too but I haven't read that one yet. You must get 13. Now. It's sooo good. A little scarier then the rest, but good. Must. Stop. Talking. Now. Or I'll tell you the whole book. LOL

Who do you like better, Morelli or Ranger??? I'm a Morelli girl myself.

Oh and yes.. many has been the time I have had to stop reading them because I had a child napping on me and I was going to wake the child up laughing hysterically. LOL

What are these Alphabet books you speak of????I am really interested in them just reading what you guys have written......Please fill me in girls!!!!!

Oh yes, Sue Grafton. Love her.

I think I read a couple of her books a long time ago.......I used to be a Danielle Steel-aholic but I got really tired of her about 6 years ago and have NOT read on since then. I must say though that I watch her movies on Lifetime often!!!!!

Sue Grafton wrote them.. Kinsey Malone is the character in all of them. I call them the alphabet books because that's the titles. A is for Alibi, B is Burglary, etc. I think she's on T or something now. They're good but I do recommend going in order.

Oooh, I also love JD Robb.. y'all read her? I don't like many of the Nora books but I heart the JD Robb books. LOL

Thanks, I will have to see if I can find them for sure...Mystery typeight??

Oooooh you know what, I knew 13 is out, but I bought them all in paper back. So I was waiting for 13 to hit paperback. Even though it's a waste of money, I like to buy books. And I HATE to mix hardcover and paperback. So like all my Patterson's are hardcover, all my Evanovich's are paperback. Cussler is a mix cuz my parents let me just keep a bunch. The next house we buy, we're going to build. And I'm going to have a nice big craft room with built in bookcases and it'll double as my library. :) It's a dream anyway, lol.

Omg I'm totally a Morelli girl. He cracks me up. But I would absolutely do Ranger. He's got that tall darka nd handsome/james bond thing going for him. I'm drooling just thinking about both of them, LOL!

Christine the Janet Evanovich books are the funny ones we're talking about. They're all numbered, One for the Money, Two for the Dough, etc. And aboslutely HILARIOUS. They're about a 30 something year old living in the Trenton area of New Jersey, who becomes a bounty hunter. Hilarity ensues, lol.

Yes, Christine, if you have not read Evanovich, you MUST. NOW. I heart her. LOL She rocks. Stephanie Plum is the best character EVER. And if Sandra Bullock doesn't play her in the movies, I will picket. LOL

I'm going to Joann tonight or tomorrow and there's a Barnes and Noble right near it. I'll probably go tonight now that I'm thinking about it. I need to buy fabric for curtains for the office. :)

I know!! LOL The Rock for Ranger. Still can't decide on Morelli. Betty White for Grandma. Queen Latifah for LuLu.

OMG you have this all planned out! I love it!

Hmmm.....Morelli is tough to cast. The Rock isn't hot enough for Ranger though.

I have heard of some of those books but haven't read any of them... my fave author is Jennifer Weiner! 'Good in Bed' is a fabulous and funny read!

Woman! They are already casting. LOL There was a poll on Janet's website a while ago to help choose people.

The Rock is hot, what planet are you on?

BAahahahahahahaha omg he is so not hot to me, lol.
Are they doing a movie for each book? or like a mish mash of books?
Part of me thinks Matthew Mcconaughey could work for Morelli. Or maybe Daniel Craig....mmmm...he's yummy.
What were we talking about again?! LOLOL They probably need to find a hot unknown actor for Morelli.

Oh Jennifer Weiner is good! I read her other ones too and I liked them.

Mmmm Hmmm...obsessed!

OK Girls, I am going on the B&N website and looking for those books for sure!!! I need a little bit of funny in my life!!!! Thanks

PS, I think the ROCK is HOT!!!!!!

Bree and others -
Have any of you read Caleb Carr's the Alienist or The Angel of Darkness? If you like murder/mystery/historical works these are amazing!

Also, have any of you read Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next Series? They are so quirky, cool, and funny. As a literature buff I really enjoy these works.

As for what to read next, I say Middlesex. I haven't read it, but everyone I know who has said it is well done. I thought Snow Falling on Cedars was good but it doesn't make it into my favs. The Diary of MA would probably be what I would read, though.

a really amazing author who's books never disappoint, Jodi Picoult is amazing.

I Agree!!! I've read all Picoult's and they are great. As far as the ones you have already... I loved memory keepers daughter and snow falling on cedars. I've read Sea glass too, good read. Those three I can recommend.

I have tried Book Mooch like 5 times and cannot get in at all ( I am a FireFox user)
Yeah, I'm still having trouble getting in myself. They must be down...I wish I could remember the address for their blog...

ETA: Found the link for the blog, but it didn't help, hahah...cause it's hosted on bookmooch. :p

Thanks ladies. I went to Barnes and Noble and spent about $60 (which for me, is pretty standard).

I got 2 book at the bargain prices though ($5 and $6) and 2 new ones. A new Cussler, and Old Cussler, the new Patterson in the Women's Murder Club (7th Heaven), and "Plum Lovin" since #13 isn't in paperback yet. And it was only $5, lol.

And a set of moleskin notebooks to alter.

And THEN I went to Joann. Oy, lol. 3 cheers to not getting trouble for spending money cuz I'm out of debt finally! LOL!
