How's the weather in your neighborhood?

We are still in middle of "Snowstorm Allison" as the local news is calling it... we should have about 15 inches of snow when all said and done which should be late this afternoon/evening. :glare: The winds are suppose to pick up this afternoon to around 40 miles per hour... and tomorrow temps dip to 10 degrees (F)... with -20 wind chills... lovely! My hubby just called to see if there is garbage pick up was still on for today... and it is! Can you believe that? They ask everyone else to stay off the roads... those poor guys!

How's the weather by you? Are you/have you been impacted by this storm?

We're stuck inside, too (Vermont). It's really awful outside- my son's preschool was cancelled, and we're just hanging out inside. I feel bad for the doggie- she has to go out in it and she just had a hair cut about a month ago! She'll freeze her little hiney off!

It's so windy, though- and we have about 6 inches of snow and there are so signs of it stopping at all....

ETA: After all the rain and wind, we have less than 1 inch of snow left on the ground in our yard!!!!

well, when I went out of town this weekend we got stuck on the road (thankfully in a little community) due to high winds and blowing snow, so bad that you couldn't see more than 5 feet in front of you. When we arrived at our destination on Saturday, there were insane snow drifts everywhere, some 4 feet high (and higher in some areas).

Here where we live, it was -30*C (-22*F) yesterday. But no new snow (too cold for that). Today it appears to be about 10 degrees warmer (-21*C, -6*F), but it doesn't feel like it warmed up yet. We still go about our usual days, albeit a little slower. The kids have inside days at school when the weather is like this, meaning no playing outside at recess or lunch.

No snow here, but the windchills are -35 right now. The snow is going to miss us, but I'd rather have snow than these temps. Brrrrrr.

Well, while y'all get all the snow we had tornadoes and severe weather all night...just one warning after another for about 3 hours...my nerves were totally raw when it was all overwith..now though the sun is shining and it's about 57 degrees..down from about 75 last night..it's supposed to get colder but nothing like up North. I think I'd rather have a snow storm than tornadoes. :(

Well, if they are calling it 'Snowstorm Allison'...big yuck to that! I lived through Tropical Storm Allison...40 inches of rain in a day's time is some parts of Houston...it was NOT a fun time.

No snow or anything here in OKC...we had icy roads a few nights ago, but it's sunny now...just too cold to go out LOL. Temp is about 18, with wind chill of zero.

Just a little bit of snow.. maybe an inch.. but we had freezing rain before the snow came down so the roads are crap... and it's cold... 8 degrees with -6 windchill and -2 tonight.

last night it rained but it was sorta like sleet. you could hear the little 'tap tap' as it hit the house. today it was raining earlier, real rain not ice, and its been really windy. here's what the weather page says about us today:

Very windy and turning sharply colder. Cloudy with scattered light snow showers. Temperatures falling into the lower 20s this afternoon. Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts to around 55 mph. Chance of precipitation 50 percent.

its snowing right now, but just a random big flakes. but the wind is howling around the house. i really don't want to go outside today!

Our high is going to be in the mid 40's today, definitely qualifies as winter for these parts.

It's starting to snow here again. Not so much cold...well, 30ish...but SUPER windy. Like 50+ mph winds. We had rain last night so all the snow that we did have is gone. Emma's field trip to the Christmas Tree Farm got cancelled for Thursday since our high is supposed to be 12 :o

snow.. but not too bad... just a few inches, I still don't want to drive in it though :p LOL.. its supposed to switch over to freezing rain/rain soonish. yay ice.

We're in a blizzard warning. It's snowing and the winds are over 40 mph. The temp is 6 degrees with the wind chill at 20 to 30 below. It's brutal outside, and they are advising no travel, but my husband still got up and went to work. UGH! Work always comes first.

you must be just west of me! i'm in 'sconnie, too. we got 3" of wet snow. but i did get to wintness the thunder snow last night. lightning, lights flickering on and off...wet.wet.wet snow. icky.

hubby was up @ 5 am clearing the way for his family.

it is sunny and around 85 degrees today. Getting colder tomorrow. I think they said around 68 degrees for the high tomorrow.

Here's our forecast for today...it's very humid here right now...

Warm and breezy Wednesday with a chance of scattered showers in the afternoon as a cold front approaches the area.

Wednesday lows: mid 60s
Wednesday highs: low 80s

Can someone just send me a little bit of snow for Christmas? :) LOL In all my life it's only snowed here in Florida once and it was the year I was born so I don't even remember it.

Schools been cancelled here for 2 days. We were supposed to get 6-10", but not sure exactly how much we got. Wind is blowing like crazy and made some huge drifts in our driveway.

Tracy it snowed over here by me in Titusville back in like 2001 or 2004 and then before that it was like 1983 I think? I remember that year we put out lemonade and made popsicles outside LOL I love when we used to get those few freeze warnings and my mom and stepdad would turn on the sprinklers all night to protect our plants and we would wake up in the morning to everything being white and icy. It was really pretty.

I took that about 45 minutes ago. If you look past the tree to the left you can see a car. That lot was plowed at 4am--and the snow is already back up to the top of the wheel well of the car.

As of 1:47am, the record for daily maximum snowfall was broken here: 7.1". That broke the record of 7" set in 1977. I'm sure that record number will be much higher before this is over--we're still expecting another 5-8" of snow!

We got a lot of rain on Monday. And nasty cold dampness. It was awful. My parents live in the mountains in Arizona (I live in the desert area) and they got snow and were without power for 20 hours. It sucked.

I'm glad you're just far enough north of me that we didn't get all that snow! :p

wow, I feel like a weinie. LOL It's about 15 degrees here (in Oregon) and clear. It hasn't been above freezing for a few days. Luckily we have no precipation or it would be snow. The neighbors rinsed off their driveway 2 days ago to wash away some leaves, and the water instantly froze and is still there. They are regreting that. LOL Come Saturday we are supposed to warm up to the 40s and it will rain.

last night we had raining chunks of ice... yes, CHUNKS! It just started snowing and it's pretty blizzardy sideways snowfall right now. We ended up canceling our appt today and are staying indoors today.

LOL probably by the time you got over on this side of the state it'd be melted. Only reason I knew about it snowing in Titusville is my husbands brother was working over there by the space center and he called to tell us it was snowing. I want to go up north sometime soon to actually see snow because Ive never actually seen it myself that I can remember at least. Closest Ive come is our yard being covered in ice as a kid

Next time you get it let me know and I'll drive over there, it never makes it to us. LOL :)

So Jessica and Tracy... do you have an extra bedroom or guest house??? LOL! Or we could trade houses for a week, if the airport opens up.

The plow finally came through so my hubby can get to work. Took kiddo out since the wind died down for a bit... he walked through a drift and then wanted to go back in... yup, 10 minutes to get him into snow gear and 2 minute outside...

So far no snow here in my part of Kansas, but it's dang cold out there! I think the high for today is 15deg but with the wind chill it's about 5 below! When I had to take Kaylie to school at 8:15am I had to yank the car doors kinda hard to get them to open, they were just a bit frozen! The sun is shining now though so hopefully it will be a tad warmer when it's time for Kelsie to go to school this afternoon!

you would get tired of it after about a week I bet. We get maybe a dozen days cold enough to wear a jacket and just a little more then that to wear jeans and not be dying from the humidity and heat.

Oh and Im watching the news and the weatherman is making a bg deal about our "cooldown" which will likely only make temps drop to 50's? I really dislike Florida's weather.

I'm in Central Iowa (Des Moines) and it's pretty nasty out. (Not that I've really left the house! lol but from what I can see out the window). HUGE drifts of snow - and we got about 14-16 inches in the last 24 hrs. Everything is canceled or closed. DH is home - he brought his laptop home from work yesterday since he knew the office would be closed. Wind chill is about -13. We aren't going anywhere today!

We had some rain & sleet last night adn some more rain this morning but it's just overcast now. It's inthe mid 40s with tomorrow in the mid 50. We have flood warnings going on though because the snow from Saturday is all melting & with all the rain the creeks & rivers are running high & low lying areas on roads have deep puddles on them.
