Gah! I am so annoyed right now!
Avalynne is 21 months old and I accidentally missed getting her 18 month immunizations because I honestly didn't realize she was due for any. I thought she was done until 2, but apparently I was mistaken. I found that out when I took her in to have her belly button hernia looked at last month. I wish my public health nurse would give me a pamphlet of something telling me when I need to bring my kid in for shots. But that is a whole OTHER rant.
Anyways, I've phoned my health nurse 3 times asking for her to call me (she is never in the office - she does a lot of stuff all over), and she FINALLY got back to me today. And she informed me that she's not doing children's immunizations until the H1N1 immunizations are done. I asked if it would be another couple weeks? She said no, not until DECEMBER and I'll be #9 on her list!! She did give me another number to call in the closest city to us to check with them if I could get Avalynne in there.
They just called back, and they aren't doing vaccinations for kids either! They are also putting priority on H1N1 until December/January! :cursing: So by the time Avalynne can get her 18 month immunizations, she's going to be 2, which will push back her 24 month immunizations.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh! I am so frustrated! I know that the H1N1 is serious, and I'm not against immunizing for them, but can't they at least keep SOME staff on for the OTHER diseases that up till a month ago were important? Why do our babies have to be put at the bottom of the list?? The diseases that they immunize our kids for are just as bad (or WORSE) than H1N1!
I just hope they are vaccinating still for travelling out of the country and that Avalynne doesn't have to be fully caught up on her normal immunizations to be qualified to receive anything she may need for our trip to the Dominican in December!!!
