What Are You Reading?

Time for one of these threads again, lol...

I'm a little more than halfway through Jodi Picoult's newest book "Handle With Care"...it's AWESOME so far! But I'm a huge fan of her work, lol. I've been seeing it get mixed reviews - but as with all her books, you either love it or you hate it, since it's always controversial subjects.

So, what are you reading?

I just finished Twilight and am 1/4 of the way through New Moon. As soon as I'm done with the Twilight books, I'm going to get Jodi Picoults new book. I love all of her stuff, so I'm sure I'm gonna love this one.

After that, I have a few chick-lit books I've been wanting to reead. The shopaholic series, for one. :)

eta: I also have Wicked (as in, the book that became the musical) waiting in the wings for when I'm in the mood for it.

I'm about 150 pages into Outlander and I'm really really lovin it. It's different and I can already feel a little romantic tension growing between the main character and her historical beau. I have to say I'm starting to root for them like I did bella and edward which could be interesting - it'll be good to see where it's going to go.

I just started the 4th book in Nora Roberts' Chesapeake Bay series. The first 3 were really great, so I'm sure this one will be, too.

I am also reading Handle With Care right now. Im almost half way through... love it, but like you, Im a huge fan of her work as well!

I just ordered the twilight books in paperback so once they arrive I will be reeading those (I have the ebooks already)

I'm still on chapter one of "All the Presidents Men"...haven't picked it back up since the first day I tried to start reading at the college admissions day...too busy there then.

I am in the middle of A Thousand Splendid Suns (really good suggestion from you Bree, I think). Next, I've gotta read Patterson's Run for your life and then I grabbed Chasing Harry Winston from the library for a good light read. I'll probably get the Shopaholic series too.

I just finished "Lipstick Jungle" by Candace Bushnell and am now starting on the 8th book in the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson... "8th Confession"

I'm about one third of the way through The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I'm really enjoying the story in this one.

I recently finished The Lost Recipe for Happiness by Barbara O'Neal and The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan. The first one is just a good story. It's a romance, but not in the formulaic way romances can be. The second is a memoir about a woman's battle with cancer and how she dealt with her dad's cancer at the same time.

I have to admit, I tried my best to read Handle with Care but I couldn't do it. As a testament to how good Jodi Picoult is, the story just made me that uncomfortable. Of course, I have this insatiable need to know the ending, so I did read that...and I was NOT happy with it at all. I was angry. I mean, I was disappointed by the end of My Sister's Keeper, but I understood her decision to end it that way (especially after hearing her speak about it at a bookstore here). This one though...it just made me so upset that there's no way I can go back and read the rest of the book now.

Oh, Handle with Care was good. I was so angry at that book and everything that happened. I still think about it and contemplate things. And to hear Jodi read it outloud is AMAZING! She's just as fabulous to hear speak about her books. Seriously. :)

I just finished Salem Falls by Jodi. Again, just speechless. Still has me thinking about it, too.

And now I am reading Mercy by Jodi. I'm on such a kick right now, but I think I'll stop after this one for a while. I was surprised to see this one has started differently than the other books. :)

And on Jodi - TOTALLY cannot wait for the next 2 books to come out & next March. I swear, I want to hear her speak every time she is in town on a book tour. She is THAT interesting of a person.

I also finished Lisey's Story by Stephen King a few weeks ago.

I *heart* reading...can you tell?

AH! I didn't know #8 was out! Sounds like I need to make a B&N run this week :)

ITA! I've gone to see her speak/read three times since moving here in 2005. This was the first year she skipped Madison. She was in Milwaukee, but it's too much of a drive for us on a school night. Hopefully she'll come back here next year!

I just finished Stephanie Lauren's latest Temptation & Surrender.

I tried to read Whiskey Sour by JA Konrath because so many people have said this series is a lot like the Stephanie Plum series but it's not. Plum never went up against sexually deviant serial killers and Janet Evanovich does not devote chapters to telling the psyochotic killer's point of view. Sure it was witty and I can see the resemblance in main characters but that's it. Creeped me the heck out & I had to stop reading it. I don't like to be disturbed by my books.

I'm now reeading Julie Powell's Julie & Julia and will follow that up with reeading Julia Child's My Life in France. Afte that I'll see what is new at the library.

I'm still reading the same book I was in the last thread...The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I usually only read while I'm blow drying my hair so it's taking a while. LOL

I just picked up Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. I've had it on reserve at the library...and had no clue it was well over 1000 pages. I have a feeling I'll have to renew it in a few weeks LOL...or else stop scrapping for awhile...and I can't do that!

What do you think of it, Traci? It's one of my favorite books of all time...

It was amazing...I always forget that Jodie has twists at the end. I think I liked Nineteen Minutes more because it hit home with me more, but I can see you loving Her Sister's Keeper more because of all you've been through..

It was a really good book though, I ended it bawling....again!

I just got done reading the Uglies & The Pretties and am waiting on The Specials...
A trilogy from Scott Westerfield.
GREAT reads.

Yeah, I think that's why I loved it - though I read it before Mason's diagnosis. Like *just* before. But still, a big part of why it's one of my favorites.

Just finished the 7 books in the Yada Yada Prayer Group series by Neta Jackson. Grabbed Multiple Blessings and a couple of short novels at the library today, so they are up next. :)

Ooooo I missed the release on this one! I Love Jodi's books! I'm so envious! I haven't had a good book in my hand in months!!!

I'm reading Be the Pack Leader: Use Cesar's Way to Transform Your Dog . . . and Your Life by Ceasar Milan but not very faithfully, I got it when we got the dog and I'm still on the first chapter

YAY! I saw her new book at Shopper D's the other day and was like "oooohhhhh" can't wait to read that! I LOVE Jodi Picoult!!

I've got The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls sitting here waiting for me, but I haven't started it yet.

I love these threads and have always gotten some really great reads from you guys!!
