I have TONS of HD space, it just seems like a waste to me. LOL!
But to each his own![]()
I have room, it just seems silly to me too.

Your best bet is to head over to DigiScrapInfo which has tons more ACDSee info than we could ever possibly give you and browse their forums for tips 'n' tricks.

HTH, Fizz. Have fun!!![]()
I am crushed that I was out while this discussion was going on and that the Fizzster made a decision w/o my incredibly valuable input.
I have all but given up on tagging BUT I still LOVE, ADORE, CHERISH Acdsee. The interface alone is worth it IMO. So much better than using Windows Explorer. It is fast. I always open ACDSee first when I scrap and I leave it open. I open up PS through ACDSee.
And it does a bunch of stuff. Yesterday I just found the Compare Images feature.
I wish I could sit down with you Lizzy and show you all the reasons I love ACDSee.
I feel myself going all hyper now just thinking of all the reasons I love it.

Just wanted to mention that you can also use ACDSee to categorize your actual photos. So when it comes to making that album for MIL or whoever, you just search for her name or the kids names or a holiday or whatever and up pop the pics you need!![]()

I am nuts for ACDSeeYou nut.
I'm back. I have to babble about ACDSee. I hardly tag. I'm mostly a kit scrapper nowadays. BUT I still love ACDSee.
So the tagging/organizing stuff is all well and good, but ACDSee does a lot more. It is basically Windows Explorer but much cooler and better and I usually use ACDSee to browse through all files instead of using Windows Explorer.
- can customize background color to see white pngs easily
- can preview TTF files
- can see PSD previews (provided PSD files were saved to maximize compatibility)
- can zip and extract archives
- can batch rename and resize
- pop up previews
- can view ABR files
- can select multiple items and open them all up @ once in PS/PSE
- can view contents of multiple folders at once in one window. (this is really cool, i should do it more)
- can upload to SmugMug and Flickr (i've only tried with SmugMug but works great)
- can extract frames from video clips
You have to remember though that if you want to rename/move/delete files you MUST do that WITHIN ACDSee or your changes won't be recognized.
I will admit that the first time I tried ACDSee I did not like it. BUT I gave it a 2nd shot and am completely in love with it.
It is def worth every penny IMO.
I always just right click on the zip file in ACDSee and choose extract. Course that's what I did before ACDSee too!!![]()

it's in ACDSee10. what version do you have?I LOVE the batch rename feature! I just discovered it a few weeks ago, and I use it all the time time. I adore ACDSee!
Meems--this viewing ABRs that you speak of--is it in a new version? I can't do that with what I have. Am I doing something wrong?
Lizzy, do you use Windows Vista? Because if you do, I believe you can use Windows Photo Gallery to do the exact same thing. I have been using it to organize my stuff. You can create tags for anything you want and you don't have to duplicate files. It sounds exactly the same as ACDsee, although I haven't ever used ACDSee, so I am not sure. But I have created tags for all my frames, ribbons, paper, etc.

Yes. You can do that. You need to make sure to save a good copy of your ACDsee database. Then you can restore your ACDSee database to your new computer. And as long as you have the same file structure you should be good. digiscrapinfo.com has more info on stuff like this and a forum if you have questions.I learn something new everyday! I had no idea you could do this. Now I have to decidewhich one to use. The only thing is that I am hoping to get a new computer when our house sells so I have a question for you ACDSee pros. I am only tagging the things on my EHD. Is there a way to save all that and just switch it over to my new computer when I get it?

Actually Amanda, you can just have your database ON your EHD. That's what I do so I can use it between my PC and laptop!![]()
