Best buttercream frosting i've ever made.

I made a batch of Special Buttercream Frosting tonight. SO yummy. I believe in Crisco shortening now.

I did tweak the recipe a little based on the reviews. First off, I only made half a batch b/c the idea of using 8 cups of powdered sugar kinda freaks me out. Anyway halving the recipe made a perfect amount for my batch of 24 cupcakes.

I also used half unsalted butter (1/2 cup) and half shortening (1/2 cup), real vanilla extract (I'm thinking the clear imitation stuff is to keep the frosting white white but I don't care about that), and half and half (b/c I didn't have heavy cream).

So, I'm halfway to cupcake nirvana. The cupcake recipe I tried today was just okay. But that totally could be my fault. i think I overbeat the batter.

Anyway, if you find yourself with 6lbs of Crisco shortening, here's one way to use some. :D
 
I had to get out the translator 'cause I don't speak "kitchen." Seriously...I so totally hate to cook or bake...stems from my having to cook since the age of 8...and therapy hasn't helped. :D

Glad you found a great recipe and made it work for you. I like my cupcakes without the frosting, so save one for me, will ya?
 
mmmm....yum-o! I've actally made this recipe (made the same changes too, though I did use the cream) and I agree it's fabulous! Can't wait to hear when you've found the perfect cupcake recipe to complete your perfect cupcake quest!

oops, all the cupcakes have been frosted, but trust me, this particular batch of cupcakes really needed the frosting.

I hate to cook too but I'm trying to talk myself into learning to like it.
 
I'd personally do frosting no cupake, cause man I love buttercream frosting! Thanks for the recipe!
I think I could have easily eaten my way through the bowl of frosting. So light and just the right amt of sweetness.

I will be having a cupcake for breakfast!

It's a good thing I don't know where you live! Cause I'd seriously come there wring your neck! I am now rummaging thru my cabinets to find stuff to make frosting and cupcakes! I swore I was starting a diet today! LOL!
