I know there have been threads about anti-depressants, but it's been almost a year, so I thought I would start a new one, in case things have changed for anyone.
Today I went to my gynecologist and because of my age, I have to stop taking the BC pill for hormone treatment. The 2 options I was given were hormone replacement therapy or Lexapro. I was a little surprised because Lexapro isn't really for hormones, but because I've had some depression off and on, we decided on that. It's also supposed to help with hot flashes, which I have all the time when not on BCPs. So we are hoping my 2 main problems with menopause can be handled with this.
So can anyone tell me about Lexapro? I'm a little worried about going on it after reading all the side-effects. What were the pros and cons of taking it? I'm also susceptible to bad headaches - does this affect that at all?
I usually am pretty strong and can handle my life, but when the hormones kick in, it's a different story. I have never been on anything like this, nor has anyone in my family. Hopefully it will be temporary.
