Weekend Warm-Up | LCW with a Twist - Win a $25 Gift Certificate!

Topsy turvy is like upside down, not the right way. It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. Having a hard time to describe it, so I googled for a definition. This is what the Google told me...lol

Topsy-turvy describes a state of complete confusion, disorder, or chaos where things are turned upside down, reversed, or behaving contrary to their expected, natural order.

I had to print out the connect and create jpg to help my brain understand. I do have a ?, what is the meaning of topsy-turvy?
There’s a thread for Connect & Create questions, you might want to repost it over there in case other people have the same question!

It can be a lot sometimes!

Having ADHD makes keeping on top of things really challenging for me at times. I am very good at creating systems of organization but awful at keeping up with them.

What works for me now definitely won’t still work for me in a few months. Basically things work until they don’t 🫠

So I have a few systems that I kind of switch back and forth between. They’ve been especially helpful since I became a sugarbabe and have a lot more plates in the air, so to speak.

1. Paper and pen list. This one is simple and my fallback when all other systems feel overwhelming. I literally just write down my requirements and the deadlines and make notes about which kits I’ll use or the photos I want to scrap.

2. I have a spreadsheet. I was jealous of the other babes who are so organized, so I made one of my own. It’s incredible and took me a minute to make, but I have only used it for a few months because it requires a lot of bandwidth. But it is by far the most in-depth way to keep track of everything from requirements to which designers I need to spread more love to.

3. A printable. I made it last summer during the Summer Scrapathon. I’ve gone through a couple versions over time. I like this method because I created spaces to actually sketch out the pages I’d like to make. So I use it when I’m bursting with ideas and have to get them down on paper.

4. Google Calendar. I have a special calendar for all of my scrapbooking requirements. I tend to rely on this method when my memory is especially bad for one reason or another. Our whole lives are already on the calendar, so it’s very visible. It does take some energy to set up and add requirements as they come up.

I’m sure other people who are much more organized and consistent that I am have some great advice for you too, but I thought I’d share just in case you’re a hot mess like me.
This makes sense. My 20-yr old had had ADHD since 1st grade so I completely understand your take. For work I use small legal pads for checklists and have a spiral notebook to take notes in all my mtgs. My leadership peers and directors know who to ask if they forget or miss something in a mtg we are in. 😂 This came about after several times I reminded then on such and such date what we agreed to from weeks prior. Now they call me out and ask me. I also use One Note for templates and lists on my work PC. So, I started with using One Note on my personal scrapping laptop and we shall see how that goes. Years ago, I was on many CT but none currently. I was much younger back then, so I just figured it out and hit my deadlines, I guess.

I had to Google the definition for that one just to get an idea. I put in my notes "confused, not predictable, reverse". So, I am going with one of those somehow.

Love it. Now I have the idea to just scrap a photo of me in a perimenopause confusion or my daughter and one of her ADHD moments. We are quite a pair at times. So, a mom and daughter photo works for me too.

I took a few months off from scrapping because life was lifing. Trying to hop back in and it just took me 3 days to finish the Weekend Warmup #1 challenge - I just couldn't commit to what products to use to meet the color scheme portion. Whoo, I really gotta get it together before next month's festivities or I'll never keep up!

Wow! Lots going on over here! Wish I had more time to check in.

@3BluEyedBabies I am so sorry for your loss! I lost my mom last year kind of unexpectedly too. I know it is very hard. Sending hugs.

I, too, struggle with the challenges, but when I get stressed about them, I think about the word "loosely" interpreted and that they are not looking to disqualify. I stick to the prompts the best I can. One thing that helps is I pull up my current picture list (I scrap chronologically the majority of the time) and see what I can fit into the prompts that are there. I use the technique side for that and then go match up the theme with that. It has worked well so far, but I thought this month the techniques were particularly difficult to do. I just don't really want an upsidedown picture on my layout, but will likely use the trick many have talked about of modifying the layout for my personal use after submitting. After all, a challenge should be a challenge, right?

I scrapbook whenever and wherever I can. I have a laptop and can change spots, but my favorite spot is on the couch in the den with a lapdesk.

Happy summer everyone!

How do you choose a kit for the Weekend Warm-Up challenges?
Does anyone know if there’s a way to search or filter kits by color palette? I tried searching by color names, but only a few kits came up.

There isn't a way to search by color. I think they tried this a long time ago but the categories were so huge it didn't really help to narrow things down.

I have a folder on my computer with all of the previews of the kits I own. I have been scrolling through there to find kits that have the color palette that I need.

Since most of the color palettes are summery you could try searching in that category: https://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/sweetshoppe/home.php?cat=320

I scrolled through my beach kits and picked one that was close. I kinda wish they would have linked the sample layouts so that I could see what kits the babes used.

So I finished challenge two. I found the colors to be challenging since the collections I have aren't heavy with blues and greens. I think I did good with it.

I don't think Sweet Shoppe has a way. I use a separate organization program that lets me pick colors to search! It's come in so fabulous for all the color searches. And when I just want one yellow button - boom!

For last weekend matching the colors was super easy as I had just downloaded a kit within the last week or so from the store with pretty close to the colors the challenge was. I am just settling down this weekend to scrap. Now I am scared to go look.

@LynnZant those cookies are so pretty. When we decorate cookies, we never have that patience.
