Weekend Warm-Up | LCW with a Twist - Win a $25 Gift Certificate!

I try never to think about how behind I may be. I scrap for fun and to save memories, so I just look at it that way. I will catch up in 20 yrs from now when I retire. lol

I don't care too much either. Well I try. But I also forget things. So started making notes...so when I get to the photos I remember.

I scrap chronologically...and am currently working in May 2025 for my yearly books.
Also still trying to finish japan 2024.

I've been "behind" since the beginning due to MANY reasons....LOL! First, I take waaaaayyy more pictures than truly needed to get that one amazing shot. Until my kids came along, I really didn't have anything good to scrap about so I went nuts with my camera with them. I was doing pretty good about keeping up until my oldest was in Kindergarten. I wanted to make a book a year for her and was nearly done with maybe 5 pages left to scrap. My computer had a meltdown and ATE the layered files of this book and even got a lot of my digital kits!!!! I was soooo mad, in fact, I'm STILL mad about it. I never was able to recover my book or the digi content lost, but I was thankful it didn't get my pictures. I had my layouts uploaded with credits, but then those sites CLOSED. *sigh* It took the wind out of my sails for a loooong time. I was scrapping chronologically then, but after that computer crash I was just scrapping whatever worked for my CT teams. I had like 7-10 of them back then. Chronologically, I may not have been to my Christmas pics, but for my CT stuff that was the season that I needed to scrap for sales, so I went with whatever theme my designers were doing for the week. Consequently, I have a ton of layouts spanning from 2005 to now and NO family books are printed. My best friend from Jr. High and I both scrapped together and did paper long before digital came out. She decided she HAD to get her 4 kids' books DONE and family trips. She worked like a crazy woman and I was like...you HAVE time, don't stress yourself out! But, she pushed through and got them all caught up and printed! She had JUST finished a big family album and got it back from the printer when she passed away unexpectedly. It changed my perspective completely. My pages live on my computer, I show them to my kids as I build them, but they haven't had a book to touch, hold, read, and go through. I've poured my heart out in a lot of the journaling because these are my thoughts and feelings and a love gift to my family. If I don't get my books printed they will never seen them. I make the yearbook for both schools my kids attended so they would have NICE yearbooks - they do have those. But, now I'm trying to go back and fill in the "holes" of time I didn't scrap to get everything put into books. I have 2 years left before my youngest is out of elementary school and I can be done making that school's yearbook, but I'm always thinking about getting our personal books DONE now!

So I may have forgotten about the scrapathon a bit because I was focused on creating for the farmers market. Now I started on some layouts.

Hi ladies! I have been away from scrapping and forums for a while. Hoping to jump back in. My favorite type of scrapping is Project Life. I do my own version using regular kits and both templates I have purchased and/or have made myself. I also have a list of other type of pages I need to start on including my breast cancer journey from 2024 to current. I am cancer free now but have lingering side effects from the treatments. I know scrapping is therapeutic for me, so it is long overdue.

Question for you all- What is your favorite set up for scrapping? I have a laptop I use. My old laptop was 21 in Sony Vaio. It became obsolete and no longer supported for the windows it had loaded. About 2 years ago, I upgraded to a HP Spectre laptop that is 16 in. Problem is I miss my 21 in laptop especially getting older and now my visual isn't as great as it used to be. I have worn glasses since before the age of 1. I like to scrap from the couch or recliner while watching TV.

So, with that being said, I would love to know your set up for scrapping especially if you are older.
I sit at my office desk PC computer and scrap, scrap, scrap. I have to have my room quiet in order for me to focus; hahah.

let me understand? you give me chances to win in THIS thread, each time I babble? or is there another thread I should be looking at?

I am giggling at the idea of it being here, or there, what a great and fun game!

I sit at a desk 8 hours a day for my job. I just refuse to sit at a desk to scrapbook. I may need to pass down my 2-yr old laptop and buy me a bigger one for my old eyes.

I used to paper scrap a LONG time ago when my kids very tiny. My 20 yr old went to Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and came home with a paper scrapbook and some embellies. She was telling me how much she spent and how she planned to use the items like this was something I had no clue about. LOL. My husband did not find it funny and had some PTSD from my previous paper scrapbook days. I went digital and sold my entire lot of items on E-bay for $600.

You gals are chatty!! I just got back from holidays. We spent a few wks on the east coast in Newfoundland with a photography tour group. Can't wait to scrap some pics!

As to Amanda's scrap set-up question - I am lucky enough to have a quiet office to myself, I've got two large monitors with my PC and like to spread PS across two screens.

I really need to do this. I used to work for a friend that owned a scrapbooking store before I went digital. So, I have a small store of supplies that I have slowly been giving away really. I still love my stash - but who am I kidding..?! I am NEVER going to paper scrap again! Too much effort/work...lol! I have been spoiled with digital far too long now. =)

During one of my moves, the movers must have taken several packs of scrapping journal/sticker books I had acquired. I still cannot believe how shitty people are.

The $600 box was huge and the winner paid for shipping too. They got a great deal as I was a paper scrap hoarder at that time. I had a dedicated scrap room.

On the flip side, this week is dragging by. I am ready for the weekend and I have only worked 1 day this week. Nothing fun planned, I just dont want to work. 🙄

I am visual so I just imagined this situation. 2 movers, "hey want to drive this lady crazy, let's take some of her scrapbook stuff". 🤣 Seriously though it is hard to trust anyone these days with anything.

I just went to Hobby Lobby last week with my step daughter who is wanting to make a scrapbook of her first year of college. I am loving a combo of digital pages and also some memory planning in my planners.

Well, this is fun! I always look forward to the summer event because it's the only time I really have to scrap. Too busy as a teacher and mom to 2 young kids during the school year. Looking forward to seeing the challenges for this year!

Name Scrap Final (4).png

So I finished my layout for the challenge and got it uploaded. It's Halloween themed layout. I'm soooooo ready for fall weather. Your girl can NOT tolerate the heat anymore. I can barely make to noon at the farmers market. It does't help that Oklahoma is in like a heat dome. My sister tried to open the curtains for all the natural lighting and I shut that down real fast. It's summer time which means the house has become a cave.

I officially opened the AC today, I'll be turning it off mid September. LOL.
I just noticed the old candy categories for members are gone. They were so cute.

I am on a scrapping role this month...like I might finish all the challenges! I am shocked! I haven't done that in quite a while!

I scrap at my dining room table on my laptop (it is also part of our Living Room, so sometimes I will listen to TV while someone else watches something, but mostly I prefer listening to my Spotify playlist).

To stay on top of challenges, I go old school. I have spiral bound notebooks. I write the challenge prompts/directions or whatever I need to know. I will write deadlines or amt needed to scrap to reach a goal/GC. I use it for CT work too. After the direction, I will make any notes or drawings (if it's a scraplift I draw a little picture of the layout) and then I write out ALL of my credits! I label the challenges for the month so I don't flip too many pages and lose where I am.

My front cover has GC or CT codes so I have them nearby. I will write the names of fonts I like for certain things so I can find them again. And I will write PS hints or tips that I have gotten from my PS IT person scrapper!

Trying to figure out my challenge rhythm. How do you all keep it straight? I might need a diagram. 😂
It can be a lot sometimes!

Having ADHD makes keeping on top of things really challenging for me at times. I am very good at creating systems of organization but awful at keeping up with them.

What works for me now definitely won’t still work for me in a few months. Basically things work until they don’t 🫠

So I have a few systems that I kind of switch back and forth between. They’ve been especially helpful since I became a sugarbabe and have a lot more plates in the air, so to speak.

1. Paper and pen list. This one is simple and my fallback when all other systems feel overwhelming. I literally just write down my requirements and the deadlines and make notes about which kits I’ll use or the photos I want to scrap.

2. I have a spreadsheet. I was jealous of the other babes who are so organized, so I made one of my own. It’s incredible and took me a minute to make, but I have only used it for a few months because it requires a lot of bandwidth. But it is by far the most in-depth way to keep track of everything from requirements to which designers I need to spread more love to.

3. A printable. I made it last summer during the Summer Scrapathon. I’ve gone through a couple versions over time. I like this method because I created spaces to actually sketch out the pages I’d like to make. So I use it when I’m bursting with ideas and have to get them down on paper.

4. Google Calendar. I have a special calendar for all of my scrapbooking requirements. I tend to rely on this method when my memory is especially bad for one reason or another. Our whole lives are already on the calendar, so it’s very visible. It does take some energy to set up and add requirements as they come up.

I’m sure other people who are much more organized and consistent that I am have some great advice for you too, but I thought I’d share just in case you’re a hot mess like me.

How do you all keep it straight?
I started using Trello (free version). I make a challenge card, and add as the items the different challenges I want to complete. Then, when I finish it I can cross it off, and either archive or move it. Party a Day looks like this. Within the date, I can add details like ideas I have for the page. And I had a separate list for the prize so I could keep track of what I had downloaded and what I hadn't. I can use it on my desktop or mobile, so I appreciate if I have a shower idea it's easy to add to it.
