I just got up a few minutes ago so I could get ready to go to WM and pick up some pumpkins and dinner for family night tonight (Ghost Hunters and carving pumpkins...WHEE!) and my phone rings.
I always screen my calls and since it said "Unknown Caller" I didn't pick up but waited to see if whoever it was, would leave a message.
As soon as the answering machine beeped, a guy came on the phone saying he was sorry he missed us and that he wanted to share a Bible passage with us.
He then started reciting bible passages and urging me to come to his place of worship at the Jahova's Witness hall this Sunday to hear more.
It was not a recorded message, btw.

I am just stunned a little. I mean, I am a Christian and I have a deep faith on God and have no problem with prostelytizing at all...but on the phone!?!?!?!
Seriously!?!?!
It was just wierd! I have never had that happen to me before. :blink:
 
my family's had some cool stuff like that happen before. my mom was having a really hard time one day with something personal and she totally got this phone call with a man saying he felt compelled to call this number and share a specific verse (the perfect verse) with whoever was on the other end.

cool stuff!

that being said..trying to get people to your church...weird!

See that would have been really cool...the thing about your mom.
I had a guy come into work one day after I was frustrated about some customers and I don't know if he could see it in my face or what, but he put a card in my hand and said God Bless You, Young Lady and he left. When I opened the card it had a pretty Bible verse. It was nice to have that happen.
 
It doesn't surprise me...they used to do that to us in our old neighborhood and once a month they'd come park in the neighborhood and knock on doors passing out literature. They quit coming by my house though when I told them I wasn't interested but they were welcome to come in and let ME witness to THEM. :)
 
They still come door-to-door here. I get them about 3-4 times a year. Maybe I should do what Nikki did and offer to witness to them. :p That's brilliant!
 
They still go door-to-door here too, they were here only last week. The ones we've had aren't too bad for the most part, but occasionally we get some very pushy people. I will find my own way to my own faith thankyouverymuch. I don't need someone else's views shoved down my throat. That turns me away more than anything.
 
We get door to door here A LOT. Not just Jehovah Witnesses, but Baptists, a LOT of salespeople and even the Catholics once, which I found incredibly weird. Don't even get me started on when natural gas was deregulated and the upstart companies started sending people door to door to hound you to change.

Whenever I notice people going door to door, I release the hounds. Our yard is completely fenced in and I just put Sadie and Otis, our two bullmastiffs out there. They're big sweeties, but bullmastiffs are very territorial and let everyone they see know this is their yard. And, hmmm, no one ever bothers coming to our front door. :) :) Yes, I am evil.
 
When my dad sees them coming, he says shalom and they quickly turn around and walk off. LOL
 
The reason Jehovah's Witnesses do the phone calls is because they can't get the people at home. People are hardly at home, so after X amount of times of going to their door, they will try a phone call.

And yes, I know that from personal experience. :)
 
We had some come to our last apartment SEVERAL times in just a few months. DH loves to say, "I'll read your stuff if you read my Book of Mormon." They quickly run away. :D

Nothing wrong with ppl spreadin the gospel :)

when they come to our door I normally hike the skirt up and pull the shirt down and tell em I have my own religion and wink ;)

We get a lot of Mormons here. I live on the nice side of an apartment complex that has identity issues..the other half is the GHETTO so they think we're all hoodlums :)
 
The last time we had anyone here to talk about Jesus was the day DH was getting ready to go to a gun shoot. So they met this guy with long hair, a .357 on his hip, loading rifles in his trunk, who (very nicely) says. "Sorry. I'm agnostic & not interested". That was about 4 years ago now, so I am assuming word got around :)
