Xbox One question

Does anyone know if you can download minecraft to play it on xbox one? The plan was to get Avery the 360 with minecraft b/c that is ALL he's asked for this year. Well, DH has a bad habit of only wanting the newest and best so he decided to get the Xbox One. Well I know nothing about any of it so I assumed we could get Minecraft for Avery but they don't have it for Xbox One! He's going to be so disappointed to open a new console Christmas morning and not have the game he wanted with it. :thumbdown:
 
I don't know... I actually bought the xbox 360 because I'm cheap like that, lol. Do you have Gamestop (or something similar) around your area? I would call them, I'm sure they would know.
 
Yeah I'm cheap too..that's what I wanted was the 360...it was on sale and with a 50 dollar gift card with purchase..Avery would have never known the difference. I should have just gotten it myself and not got DH involved in it lol.
 
My son was saying that the xbox ONE will not be companionable with a lot of current games so I'd think it would best err on the side of caution (and budget friendlier)
 
I don't know but I do KNOW that the new PS4's are NOT backwards compatible with any of the prior PS games (so no PS2 or PS3 games will work on the 4)

eta: if you can, I would take the XBOX One back and return it and get a regular XBOX 360.....
 
DH wants the One. He talked me into letting it be his present too lol. I guess we'll just get DS a game that he can play on it and hope minecraft is available soon.
 
hahahah Nikki, that sounds like my DH!!!!! Except he would want the PS4 but he has actually decided to WAIT until they come out with one that will be backwards compatible since we have so many of the other PS games.....
 
Apparently from what DH has said & other gamer friends the days of backwards compatible gaming is over for the serious systems. I'm sure they will release mindcraft on the xbox one.

I got Sean a PS4 for Christmas, but the kids are sticking with the Wii for awhile!
 
We ended up getting the 360 on Black Friday partly because of the Minecraft issue. Partly because of cost and partly because we find the Xbox One's internet requirements untenable.

We have a Wii so switching systems is a big deal & we chose the one with the most games the boys seem to like.
 
My son is agonizing over the Xbox One or PS 4 decision but he's 20 so can make that decision himself. He's just asking for money/gift cards so that he can buy either one when he makes his final decision.
 
I was just informed tonight that DS2 wants an Xbox One for Christmas. And of course, you can't get them now. So Nikki - if you decide you don't want it, I'll buy it! ;) You were very lucky that your DH got one.

My older 2 boys are Xbox and my younger 2 are Playstation (they just bought the 4 with their own money) so we have everything in our house. Including Wii and Wii U. :rolleyes:
 
Well DH already has had it out "testing" it lol. I think he's more excited about it than Avery will be. I went ahead and got him the Skylanders starter pack..he's mentioned that to me before so hopefully that will do. I'm going to have Santa write a note telling him that as soon as Minecraft is available he's going to send our elf back with it lol
 
Not a surprise your DH is playing it to "test" it - men never grow up when it comes to games! ;)

My DH found one so I guess we'll have this in the house too. DS2 IS paying for part of it though, especially because it will go back to his dorm room with him and the other boys won't be playing it at all.
