WWYD: Getting items you have loaned back

Really over this. I leant two books (approx $250-300 value) in March or April last year to a classmate. I assumed I'd get them back at the end of the semester (June), I've asked multiple times between May 2015 and now through FB messenger (thats my only contact) and been given answers ranging from yes I've still got them and I'll get them to you soon to I'm overseas and will return them when I'm back. I have found out that another classmate loaned a book as well to the same person and is still waiting for its return as well I'm not sure what to do as I'd like them back as I may need them as resources next semester.

Hunt them down. ROFL.

Seriously that's tough. It sucks when someone does something like that. I hope you get them back.

Ouch. I tryyyyyy to not lend things out if I'm worried about them being returned, but that's so kind of you to let someone borrow a text book. I would probably do that too. You might need to light a fire under her butt... tell her, "Hey, I'm running some errands later and I'll swing by and grab those books to save you the trip."

I never lend something to someone unless I'm willing to accept that it might be damaged or at the worst, never returned. My advice would be to never do that again with such expensive items unless they give you a safety deposit that you'll give back to them when they return it or something lent to you as 'insurance'.

Have they said when they'd be back in town? You will likely need to stop by their workplace or home and pick them up from her/him. And hope they haven't lent them to someone else, or sold them. :(

I've posted on her FB page but am pretty sure I'll be going to the disputes tribunal over it. I know she is back cause she is part of a public advisory board and she attended the April meeting. I've already tried the I need it for school thing in Feb (I actually don't need it til July but thought that might have got action). I've definitely learnt my lesson thats for sure on loaning stuff.
