OK, so I spent $100 frickin dollars to have an ad published in an online magazine for my shop... well, the ad was published on the first to last page!!!! After all the articles were done... When I signed up for the ad-space, it said, "special anniversary 1/2 page ads" thinking they'd actually treat it with some respect (ones I've seen in the past were in the BEGINNING of the magazine!!!!)... $100 down the toilet!!!

No one's gonna even look at it! I am so ticked!!!!! Would you be fuming???!!

(this is the same magazine that never even put my December ad I paid to have put in. they did make it right, but I'm now feeling like, 2 strikes, I'm done!!!! I really want to say something, but I don't know if I should. I'm so mad!!! :cursing:)

What would you do?

Dang, that is a lot of money for one ad. I would be dissapointed for sure. Big hugs to you, you still rock!

Ok, I thought about it and I thought about it.... I decided to send the owner the following email, and I quote... (but censored for her privacy):

" Hi ---,

I really hate to bother you, but I've been contemplating whether or not to make mention of this....

I just downloaded and opened the March ---- ad, and was rather dissapointed to see my anniversary ad posted on the first to last page, where, in my opinion no one's going to see it....

I just wanted to make a suggesstion that large ads, especially those that are for "special anniversaries" and cost $100, be treated with more reguard.

Thank You,
Rachael "

I'm kinda embarassed about it, but I thought I'd mention it to her, so no one else has the same feelings in the future.... that and for $100, well, I think the above wouldn't need to be said!

Was I too harsh?

As a former designer, I know which one you are talking about and if it makes you feel better. I download and read that one strictly for the ads. So I would still see your ad, but I agree for paying that kind of money, I would prefer it in the beginning.

I'd say something, at the very least they should refund a portion of your money. I think they did you wrong!

Was there anything in the contract you signed that stipulated where the ad would be placed? Not that it still wasn't wrong, but if there was no specific placement/promise for your ad, I can see how they might defend themselves.

It sounds like you definitely shouldn't advertise with them, but in the future, you might stipulate where your ad is placed when you advertise in other publications. Maybe they'll think that's picky or won't let you, but I'd at least try if it was my money and my business, kwim?

Sorry that happened to you.
