when your laptop has been stolen earlier in the week and you realise that since Backblaze was still doing the initial back up you've only got 2/3rds of your digi stash at the most. To be honest i'm not as upset about the laptop as i am about the contents.

There was more stolen than just my laptop - a 2nd laptop, a modem, an external hard drive, a vacuum without the hose, a wheelbarrow with a flat tyre and 10 bottles of wine.

That's horrible!!! Getting anything stolen feels like an awful violation, but I can imagine a laptop is even worse, since it has so much personal stuff on it. I hope you can regenerate at least some of your stash. I've had amazing luck getting stuff from SSD back, not sure about elsewhere. Good luck!
 
Oh no! I'm assuming you filed a police report and everything. Do you have insurance that is compensating you?
 
I'm so sorry! How awful!!

I lost my entire stash 5 years ago in an EHD crash, and it still bums me out so I feel your pain there.
 
I'm so sorry! I broke my EHD once, and backblaze had apparently started by copying just the folders first, so atfirst I thought I had everything, but everytime I opened a folder, there would only be a few papers or elements; almost nothing was full. : ( It was so, so sad. I hope the 2/3 you still have is full and usable!

I'm lucky i've got an ipad mini and not studying otherwise it would be a disaster. I have use of a laptop for 5 weeks from the end of the month so for now when I need to apply for jobs I will just use the computers at the library to redo my cv and cover letters and to apply.

well had some good news today, our insurance claim was accepted - everything that was stolen has been approved. Today my mum paid the excess to the supplier and laptops has been ordered for pick up in a week when we will pick up the rest of the electronics. It is a slightly better machine than I had and will have only cost me $230 for the extended warranty which I'll pay when I help pick everything up. Between everything that was stolen we are getting about $4600 worth of stuff for $270 excess ($400 minus the $130 for the alcohol that was stolen)

So sorry to hear about the theft. Glad there is a silver lining in the new electronics.
