WOOT! I got our Europe Itinerary finished!!!

*Sorry for another wedding related post* :p

I'm so excited! I got our itinerary nailed down for our honeymoon. Turns out my original plan of going from Barcelona to Nice/the French Riviera and then Nice to Florence would take about 40 hours on the train. Not so much worth sitting on a train for essentially 2 days.

So instead we're going to fly from Paris (our first stop) to Barcelona, then fly from Barcelona to Rome, and then use the trains to get around all of Italy. It's cheaper overall even with the flights! SCORE!

So we're doing:
3 days in Paris
3 days in Barcelona
3 days in Rome
1 day down in Naples/Pompeii and then taking an evening train up to Florence
2 days in Florence
Then a morning train to Venice, spend a day there (the overall sense we're getting is that Venice isn't all that awesome, which is a bit of a disappointment) and then take an evening train to Milan
1 day in Milan
Morning flight to Athens, spend the night there
Morning flight back to Milan, spend the night there again
And then fly home from Milan.

Phew! It's gonna be a whirlwind!:thumbup::thumbup:

Cool - I'm sure you'll have a great time (even though you are missing out on the best part of Europe, which is obviously Norway;))

You're going to have a blast! I was just talking to a customer last night about Greece...I have got to get back there. It's been way too many years since I've gone!

woot have fun!

Of all the cities I think Milan was my fave :) Loved it when my sister and I went. I imagine the romantic aspect of it will be even better with a mate! Hope you have a blast on your honeymoon!

you are going to have so much fun!!! i'm so jealous!!! :D

we didn't have a honeymoon; duty called (Army)

Ahhhhh, this sounds SO fabulous!! :) I'm insanely jealous of your upcoming travels...you're going to LOVE it. I adored Venice, so try to keep an open mind...we only spent one night there, but I definitely wish it had been more. Can't wait to hear all about it!

sounds like so much fun!

our honeymoon was also in France and Italy (seven years ago) i love walking along the Arno River in Florence at night, and Venice also at night when all the tourists went back to the mainland for the night. so peaceful.

sounds like an amazing trip!! I agree with Teresa about Venice. I loved it, thought it was beautiful and we had an amazing time wondering around the streets. So much good food in Italy too and the coffee--yum!! of course, you are going to get great coffee in all those countries!

Thanks guys, we're SO excited!! We never thought we'd be able to do this trip at this point in our lives, but all the pieces just fell together perfectly!

We do have some wiggle room in the schedule, so if we love Venice, we can always spend the night there and then leave the next afternoon for Milan. Venice seems to be hit or miss with people I guess, lol. Plus, we are planning on (eventually) going back to Italy. So if we love it, we'll go back on the next trip :)

I've started stocking up on memory cards for this trip, lol. We're not going to be taking a laptop, so I'm going to try and use a whole bunch of cards throughout the trip. That way if one goes bad, we don't lose everything. I'm still toying with the idea of renting an epson media viewer to store the pictures on as well, as a back up. I know I'm going to want to take 904839024823 pictures, lol!

I heard that about Venice too, but I actually really liked it. There is some stunning architecture, and I adored taking photos of the fabulous shop windows there. It's also home to the famous blown glass, so there are some beautiful shops to look at. A day should be sufficient, but I think it's definitely a day well spent.

Sounds like you'll have so much fun! Definitely gonna wear you out, though!
