OK, this has been one thing that really made me crazy about iTunes...I couldn't find a way to minimize it to my taskbar...I could minimize it but it still took up space and made me crazy. So I decided to Google for a solution, cause you know, there's lots of hacks and stuff out there, and since it's a clean install right now, it doesn't really matter if I screw something up, lol. BUT...anyhow...I found this handy-dandy tip:
Right click in your taskbar and choose "toolbars", then choose "iTunes" (I think iTunes has to be running). Then when you minimize iTunes, you get a mini player right next to your taskbar.
It's still taking up room, and is more than an icon...but it's an improvement...for me, lol! My OCD self can handle that.
