Ok, if you are my Facebook friend - no need to read this thread because I'm sure you've already heard an earful. :p

If not...GUESS WHAT!? Friday afternoon we got word that my DH made a huge progression in his Naval career and was selected as Chief Petty Officer! (that's E-7 for you non-Navy military ladies!)

I am so excited, proud, happy and extremely nervous at what this means for him! It's a huge deal and I don't really know what all it entails yet (other than a huge pay raise), but I'm so ready!
He left for initiation today (Chief Petty Officer is steeped in old tradition and requires a 6 week induction/initiation period, before being pinned) and won't be back til Friday.
So far he's had to write a 200 word essay, memorize pirate talk, memorize the theme song to Popeye, as well as several other Naval anecdotes! I can't wait to hear the stories!!!
 
Wow... that is really awesome... I, too, don't know what this all means... but it's awesome, none the less!! :thumbup: Congrats!!
 
congrats!! my DH used to in the Army; not the same but still, its always exciting when they move up a grade.

memorize pirate talk and the popey song?? how cool, :D!
 
Awesome!! Congrats!! Ooo, that makes you "E-7 and above," now you can hang with all the cool kids. :p (At least that's how it works in the Army :D)
 
I had to look this up because I don't really know all of the ranks. My brother is an officer and is a Captain elect right now, so I know the Naval Officer ranks (we've been keeping track as he goes up and up!)...but I didn't know the names of the enlisted! Very very cool! Super congrats to him!!
