Windows 8

We just got all of our PC's running Windows 7, so I don't think we'll be updating anytime soon. I don't even know what's in this release.
 
Microsoft seems to make a good hit with their OS every other try. 95 was ok, 98 was good, Vista sucked and 7 has been good. I'll stick with 7. :D
 
I'm happy with W7 (before I was on XP for ages), but I'm curious. I'm told it should run faster when in "classic" mode (meaning PC look, not phone look - and especially if you use a very simple look without effects, which is how I use all of them including W7), which is never a bad thing.

You are so right, Marie! We are sticking with 7, too... I understand the "phone" look... but to me it looks like a throw back to 3.11 with the block and bright color design... ahh... 1992 was a good year...
 
I'm ready for 8, not getting it right away, but getting a new lappy with 8 (as i need a new lappy anyway) for xmas
 
I have to disagree on the pattern... I HATE Windows 7. I run it on my laptop but I never got used to it. I stick with Vista on my desktop, it's my favorite. I saw Windows 8 and I admit I'm scared of it, lol! No more start menu? I'm sure I eventually would get used to it but for now I'm sticking with Vista. I don't like changes on my computer too much!
 
I am on the fence about this - knowing there are a lot of bugs when a new OS is released but I do like the deal they have to upgrade for only $40 if you do it by January 31st. I will keep reading on it and maybe only upgrade the desktop my girls use. Truly they only surf the net and visit social media sites so it may be perfect for them.
 
I'm sure I won't be upgrading for a while, but around February I'll be getting a laptop, so I'll probably get it then. I thought it looked interesting...
