Should I get a Wii for our family? We already have a PS2 and (lol!) the original Nintendo with like 50 games. (I have a 4 year old)

If you have one, what do you like/don't like about it?
I would def get the wii fit plus system, but what about other games?

Thanks for the input :)

We LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it and use it a lot. We love Wii Sports and play as a family really often. I use Wii fit a lot, and it helps take the place of outside play on rainy streaks of days. And..if it helps, my FIL, who really does not like video games at all, bought one this year...and loves it.

we love ours too...and we have tons of Wii games {plus we have a PS3 and and XBOX 360}....we are very competitive when it comes to the Wii fit, makes it more fun as a family! We bought the kids Toy Story but haven't had a chance to teach Abby {3 almost 4} how to play it yet, but I heard it is fairly easy to play....I got them Mario Kart and 4 wheels {1 for each kid} for XMAS so they can all play together! they are definetely worth the money!!! to me the games are easier to play than the XBOX and PS3 games...but I am game ILLITERATE!:p

Absolutely! Best thing we bought for the kids (and us of course) We love Mario Kart and Wii sports.

I am odd man out again...We own just about every system known to man and out of all of them the Wii just collects dust! My kids hate it. They never play it and would much rather play their xboxes any day. I even bought them Lego Indiana Jones thinking that it would get them to use the Wii since they LOVE Lego Star wars for Xbox. But it's just too frustrating to play it with the weird Wii controllers. The only thing I think that is any good for Wii is Wii fit and Wii sports other than that I think Nintendo has dropped the Ball when it comes to really good games for it not to mention Wii sales are plummeting!

I noticed the price for Wii just went down by $50 because it's been out a couple years now (and since PS3 has been recently released). I really want to do Wii Fit, because I'm finding it hard to get out and walk with a baby in this chilly Vermont weather.. and of course winter's coming so it'll be even harder then...

I saw that Wii does have some normal controllers, not just the stick-type ones (and all the other accessories). I'm just really not wanting to buy all the extras that you need for certain games- that's a pain in the butt.

Thanks ladies for your input! :)

ce played it @ my parents house a few weeks ago (their friend brought the wii sports thing).. they did baseball, tennis and bowling.. oh and my dad did the boxing, he wouldn't let ce do that one.. lol ... tbh, ce got really mad at it and i know if it was s omething we had at the house it would have lost it's appeal rather quickly .. my dad seemed to have the most fun though ^_^

We have one, and although we don't use it that much, we do love it. My 3 yo doesn't play, she doesn't like things that require you to be in the same place for more than 5 minutes:) My 7 yo loves it though, she was about 5 I think when we got it (we got it when it first came out), and she could use it straight away. But then again, we don't have any other consoles, so although the controls were new to her, she wasn't used to playing with regular controls either.

We got ours last year for Christmas and to be honest-it really doesn't get played much. Our big boys have a few games that they play occasionally on it, but they really aren't the games that are active, they like RPG's. Landen is easily frustrated with it because the controllers are a bit odd. I'm hoping that as he gets older he will enjoy it more, but I really wish that we would have put our money somewhere else as all it does is collect dust for the most part. I have always wanted to get Rock Band, but I know that the boys tired quickly of Guitar Hero and can't see putting more money into something so similar because it was a fad around here.
Now the two PS3's that we have...that is a different story-all three of my big boys...hubby, Zak and Connor-play that console like someone might come and steal it away from them at any time...Ha!

We got it last Christmas and my 6 yr old son and 3 yr old daughter play it. As with any toy, it goes in cycles. When we first got it, Ben played everyday. Now, he plays it in rotation with his other toys (so not everyday). But he really does like it.

Don't get the Shaun White snowboarding. While it is really fun, the set up is such a pain in the ass (choosing your player, skill level, etc)...it takes forever....and Ben gets discouraged. He just wants to snowboard....not take 10 minutes in the stupid setup section.

Wii Sports is GREAT. Mario Kart is the bomb and lots of fun for both kids and adults. It came with a steering wheel and we bought an extra one for our daughter to use (so they can play two player). We also have Wii Fit, which my son actually loves..... The ski jump is hilarious and fun.

I say go for it!

We love our Wii. Right now it is in regular use by my 5 year old trying to unlock everything on Lego Batman, he's been at it about a month. He tackled Lego Star Wars at the start of the year and then Lego Indiana Jones. Mario Kart gets a decent amount of use as does Cars and Wii Sports. I play Wii Fit.

I think it is a matter of what you know. The only other gaming system I ever used was an Atari so I had nothing to compare the Wii wands too except a joystick and the wands seem straightforward & easy to me. I tried to play an Xbox a couple months ago and found the controler too confusing. We're getting Wii Sports Resort for Xmas which means we need to get a second one of those extenders but that is the first new accessory I've had to buy since we got it.

Similar story here. We like the Wii ok, but with the PS3, PS2, and XBox 360, it rarely gets used. Usually only when friends are over and we're all drunk trying to bowl. :p

Jordan and Joey are on the PS3 or the XBox 360 (which we've only had for 2 months or so) all. the. time. Like hours every night. I try not to get into the video games anymore. I used to be all about it, but then I would never get any scrapbooking done (I'm not good with moderation, LOL!).

I soooo dislike video games, never liked them at all  But - I have to admit, the Wii is different and I really enjoy it  Not that I play it a lot but when I do, I always have fun. The kids really love it and play it not every day but often.
