I saw a snippet of a news program on TXCN yesterday talking about how the Wii Fit was never intended as a weight loss program. For those of you that are doing it regularly, what are your thoughts about it? I am not in the market for one or have any interest in one but I was just wondering if the Wii Fit was a main reason you bought the Wii in the first place!

Well it may not have been intended as a weight loss program, but I've lost 6 1/2 lbs in the 2 weeks I've been doing it. Granted, I've also been watching my calorie intake. But that is more exercise than I've had in years, so whether or not it was intended to aid in weight loss, I'm going to keep using it for that very reason. :)

Oh, I misread the poll. I bought the wii fit (as a gift for dd. lol) for the weight loss benefits, but I already had the wii console. :)

We bought our Wii because we wanted to have something we could play together. We bought the Wii fit because both of us hate gyms and doing physical things other than walking... and it looked really fun. My husband and I have both lost weight using it (for not even a month, three times a week or so). I don't really care if it was intended as a weight loss program or not... we are doing something together, and because we're both pretty competitive love trying to beat each others scores in everything, we have fun. :) I don't regret buying it at all.

I love doing the yoga and step arobics, and really it's got to be better for me doing that than sitting and watching some dumb movie eating popcorn. :)

I already had the Wii. I bought Wii Fit to suppliment my gym attendance & to get back into doing more yoga. I have no iddea if I have ever lost any weight because of the Wii Fit but I know my balance & posture are better for it.

i have been using my wii fit since Christmas and i have lost 4 pounds. I just recently started trying to count calories, so i know it helps. It has excercises I never would have done and I can def. see a change in my muscle tone.

rockin libby!! congrats!!

p.s. maybe not intended for weight loss, but anything that gets you moving will help you achieve your goals!

It may not have been intended for weightloss, but I have lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks, so it is working for me. I know that eventually I will have do other types of physical activity to meet my new fitness level and achieve my long term goals, but right now it is working for me.

I haven't bought it yet(all sold out here) but will eventually buy it for the exercise and potential weight loss. I am offically down 10lbs this morning from January 1st. :)

Congrats on all the success ladies!

they have to say that so people don't expect to loose weight solely by using the WiiFit. It does help you get active which along with other things, could help in weight loss. I don't like to get out much, we don't hit the gym and I don't like walking around the neighborhood, I get bored working out to videos so the Wii Fit looked like a great product for me.

Yes, I bought the Wii with intentions of getting Wii Fit for myself and other games for the whole family. As others mentioned, the Wii offers many games geared toward getting the family to play together, I like that. We already have an Xbox 360 and PS2 but neither have the fun family activities like the Wii.

We already had the Wii Console before we got the Wii Fit, but only a couple of weeks :D I knew I wanted the Wii Fit when we got the console.

I never saw it as just a weight loss program. I knew it gets us active, we love playing it together and if we watch what we eat it would help us loosing weight.
