We adopted a dog last week. She is freaking Houndini! There hasn't been a kennel built that can hold her, a lead line she can't rip from the ground, a collar she can't slip out of She jumps & climbs over a 6ft fence, banging herself against a tied down tarp so often it snap the rope holding it, leaving a 3 inch gap she somehow catapults herself through....
I'm starting to get some idea of how she ended up in the shelter in the first place.
Since the only other viable option is crating her endlessly (because she hasn't learned to play nice with the house cats yet) until DH adds some slanted fencing to the top of the kennel - I am on all day dog watch.
Make a sandwich - look to see if she has gottne loose
Read a post - look to see if she has gotten loose
Rotate the wash - look to see if she has gotten loose
Vacuum the carpet - oh crap! she's gotten loose. get in the van, hunt her down, load her up, put her back in the kennel or on the lead, repeat
for 4 days now. We've only had her a week & we start obedience training next Saturday so I am striving for patience
and huming the theme from the Great Escape..
