why do dino names...

lauren grier

you're like stars
need to be so stankin complicated. More so why does my k id have to love dinos so much :D :D Every night we read through one of his dino books. You'd think I'd be getting better at them by now. No.. It's exhausting reading them :D :D Like Tuojiangosaurus.. what no.. just call him.. spike or something nice and simple like that :D :D That of course as you know, is hardly the most complicated dino name lol but it was the only one I could remember that I still can't pronounce :D

lol in case you wanted to know.. I went and got the book again & flipped to the back..

it's pronounced toh yee ang oh sore us

:D

i feel your pain! gabe was on a HUGE dino kick b4 the house fire. he knew so many of them and knew if you mispronounced them. anyway, hugs and good luck! btw, he still loves dinos but doesn't have a lot to play with. so maybe that is your key, get rid of them...

You all make me laugh. I have a hearing impaired son who is in extensive speech therapy and he LOVES dinosaurs. I laugh because just yesterday, his therapists were telling me to start teaching him the names of some of the dinosaurs since he likes them so much. If I as an adult cannot pronounce them, how could I even begin to expect my language delayed, hearing impaired 2-year-old to pronounce them.

If getting rid of them is the key, well then I better start throwing. I think I am in for some fun learning ahead. :)

Um, La, he can't read, right?! How would he know the difference?! :p

'... These types of dinosaurs are more scientifically known as Steveosauruses. You can often find them traveling in herds with Bobosauruses and Meganosauruses. All three are peaceful fun-loving herbivores.'

See? Easy peasy.

lmao yes but he watches animal planet all the time... and they just looove to play those dino shows :D :D he yells at me if I don't say them right lmao

I would hide all the dino related things.. but he would be heart broken lol

guess I lucked out b/c my kids have not gotten into dinosaurs. (they're scared of them :D). I did pretty good with learning the Thomas the Tank Engine train names. However, I am baffled by all the My Little Ponies.

Mine don't like dinos either and I'm glad. Too complicated for this exhausted brain dead mom to pronounce LOL. I like Thomas too...the names are all REAL names, Percy is Rae's favorite because he's gweeen. LOL

My oldest DS loves loves loves dinos and when we are reading together and I know I am going to get the name wrong I think of another name to call it and he's like no mommy that's not what that is. Some times I just want to be like well then say spontaneous primary pneumothorax....lol

Mine are big into dinos. We're watching a Land Before Time movie that we picked up from the library today. Prehistoric Planet and Chased by Dinosaurs are on heavy rotation here. I also got a couple dino encyclopedias from the juvi section of the library as well. We were reading about the Dilophosaurus earlier.

Makes a change from Thomas the Train, but after a few concentrated months it does get old.
