it just doesn't come natural to me.

you siggie makers out there...what is the base that you start with usually??

Lizzy, it is so funny you ask that 'cause I've been trying to make my own siggie....Mine do not come out as nice as the ones that I have seen here....

I usually start with a transparent background in whatever size I'm going for and start clusting photos, paper and embellishments on there just like I would a LO only smaller.

I consider them mini layouts but I'm usually way too lazy to make them and will keep way longer than I should (nothing like a Christmas siggy still up on St. Pat's right?)

Old habits die hard for me, I start at 400 px x 400 px. I think making siggies with scrap stuff is hard, because you have to make it so small, kwim? That's what I always struggle with, and I've made siggies for almost 5 years.

I've been making siggies for over 5 years too! I don't really start with a base, just with the photos I have to work with then I go from there.

*waves hi to my former siggy makers*

Lizzy, just convert one of your pages to sig! All you need to do is remove the background paper and reduce the image size and you're good to go. Or if you get really desparate, I can make you one ;)

I really should make one. I used to make a new one for myself every couple of months on the cloth diapering board I'm on, but I haven't done one in forever! My siggy skilz are getting rusty. lol

Thanks Sheri! I needed an update from my christmas one! Its kind of fun to make one without a picture and just with scrapbook elements. I love yours!

traci, I LOVE cloth diapers! Seriously, they are almost more addicting to buy than scrapbook supplies! I just bought some new bumwear diapers to add to Meri's stash and they are so freaking cute!

Yeah, I am not very good either. One that one CT board we share, you have seen mine, not good. lmbo

Fun! I didn't know you were a cloth user too! Isn't stash-building addicting? lol

I've been doing siggys for about 4 months and I LOVE IT!!! I was doing siggys before I was digi scrapping, but I was buying ALL the kits and everything lol...

I usually start with a cute background, a big heart, or a patterned paper with a photo mask over it... Then get my photos all in line how I want them, and then start with my embellishments... Then add your text, whether its embellishment letters or just plain old text with some plastic wrap on them lol... I'm really addicted to it... I design on a board and we have some talented siggy makers! :D

I've been making siggies on a parenting site for a little over 2 yrs now. like someone else said, I just start with the pics. no real "base." then I just go from there. I usually make them 500ish x 300.

I've been slacking for awhile though... only making them every few months and taking very few requests. :o too busy scrapping! here's my current one tho... made with Libby's Fifteen (except the bricks.. don't remember what kit those came from, but I clipped a Libby paper to them).

you could also do like Sheri said.. just snag a photo with clustered elements from one of your pages and convert it to a siggy. ;)

See I am used to seeing the ones with glitter on them, and when you save them as GIF they get all grainy and if remember correctly the transparency goes away.

I haven't made a siggy in a while. I've only done them by request ... that reminds me, I have one I was asked to make! Better get at it. :)

We always did the glitter ones, and other types, not scrap style...so it's much different to do a scrap style one IMO. I can't seem to do either right now LOL

I started with a more classic style... never a big fan of glitter though due to the grainy-ness of .gif files. it just sort of evolved to scrap style and then I moved on to actual scrapping.

I'm right there with you Lizzy. I'm going to try to make one today. Who is it that has that awesome skull? I love that one!!!

So very true. I might need your advice when it comes time for the next baby. I started CD-ing Meri when she was 14 months old. So I've never done a newborn! But I cannot wait!

Mine? It's from Toxic Rainbow... I took this sig down for a while because I couldn't get everything else organized nicely. I just put 'er back on because I do love that skully so much.

I made this one for a friend today using Little Buddies ... but it's not done because she needs to give me a photo and let me know if she likes it, and I just plain may tweak it a bit. I like the ones that use the photo masks, but I don't really have any of those ... and I really wanted to use the fasteners on the top, lol.

Sammi, thank you for the compliment, I think you make the awesomest sigs!

Funny thing is, with all of the former signature makers here, you'd think we'd all be sporting one, lol. I noticed it's not very prevalent in this community (digiscrap in general, not SSD specifically). I'm embarrassed to admit that I've made over 2,000 signatures, but I've pretty much completely retired except for the rogue one for a friend or myself. Okay off to switch into my 'real' sig, lol ;)
