Who uses icloud as their primary backup?

And do you use it instead of an external harddrive?

I'm getting irritated with the fact I feel like I have to keep replacing harddrives every couple years, or at the very least the cords are dying, if I don't sit just perfectly, it will disconnect.

Right now I'm using backblaze, but I see that 2 tb with icloud is the same prize, and I'm already paying for 200 gigs, but I'm really considering switching and trying to use it for scrapping, rather than working off my drive. I'd still have a drive, just in case, but I wouldn't have to use it every day.

Thoughts, I'd love to hear from folks that have gone this route.

I am interested in the answers, as I am currently experiencing this problem with my hard drive... if I accidentally touch the cable, it disconnects.

I'm also interested - my new MacBook is an Air and only has 2 USB ports, which are taken up with my mouse and the EHD - so if I need to connect anything else I would have to use my trackpad - which I know makes me old, but I *need* my mouse lol. I already pay for iCloud storage, if I could replace my BackBlaze it would actually be cheaper overall.

Same, I use a Bluetooth mouse for my MacBook Air and it works pretty good.

But it does suck there are only two ports. I have a second monitor I like to use, but I can’t if I need to charge my computer and scrap.

I recently started using iCloud for storage of DD and PL (current projects) thanks to a thread on SSD. I do find the lag time a bit irritating.

I use OneDrive. I do (every now and then) copy photos and finished scrapbook pages to the recovery external I got when my computer crashed in 2020 as a third safe guard, but nothing else. Mine no longer syncs with my newer computer as I now have a D drive with all my stuff, but I just copy to my D and immediately copy to the cloud. It's so easy. And, recovery is instant when you log into the cloud from any computer. I would recommend it.

I use an external hard drive. I use an iPad for all my journaling and digital scrapbooking. My iPad is half a terabyte. But I do not like to keep the majority of my scrapbooking bundles and kits on my iPad. Instead, I keep them on my external hard drive and then transfer over a few kits and bundles to use and every so often I can just change them out. I have had this external hard drive for More than two years now, and it has never given me any trouble. I only plug it in when I want to change out documents or transfer over new kits that I have downloaded. I have learned that the wallet size external hard drives are very touchy and you have to go very slow when you transfer documents or you will overload it software program and it will corrupt itself.
