who invented digi-scrapping?

in all seriousness (sorry) :p I'm wondering if it was more of a thing where lots and lots of people were just moving in a digital direction? I know for me, I was playing with graphics in old greeting card programs over 10 years ago, and many in digi communities have the same type of story...sort of an evolution.

Was SBB the first big site that was selling digi kits? That's kinda what I'm thinking, but correct me if I'm wrong.

SBB was a site full of freebies...their store didn't open until after other stores opened. There was another huge freebie site too...anyone could create and then add it to the inventory of free stuff - can't remember what it was called now though.

I remember back in the day when there was only about 10 designers selling their stuff, lol. But I couldn't tell you who invented it. LOL!

At one point I knew. It was a group of ladies that had originally started Scrapbook Bytes (I think). After a heated discussion the ladies all splintered off to form other sites.

Everything was free in the beginning and I believe the heated discussion was about whether money could be made off this hobby.

Im thinking there would be really no way to say for a fact who invented it. Like previously posted some people have been playing with card making programs for a very long time. I know I was and made a sort of scrapbook for my daughter when she was in first or second grade. Not sure it would really be scrapbooking exactly like I do it now but that would be the first time I ever messed with digital stuff to make something other then cards. I officially started in Feb. 2007 with realy scrapbooking though with pictures/stories

I have NO IDEA....but since photoshop has been around for a long time I bet there were alot of people out there just messing around with stuff and then it just evolved....

i agree with the evolution of it, in a way. but there has to be a first person who thought, " hmmm....i'm going to try to make a digital scrapbook page".

and *that* is the person i want named. :p

Pretty sure you'll never figure that out. LOL! I think too many people probably had that idea at similar times. Some people have been digi scrapping in some way for like 10 years.

Does anyone know who the first person who paper scrapped was? Probably not. kwim? It's not like the invention of the light bulb, or electricity, where you can pin point it cuz there was nothing like it before.

Al Gore! Didn't he invent the internet? Surely he invented digiscrap too. (I actually like Al Gore, but I couldn't resist, lol)

That's why I suggested him before..since he invented the internet..anything having to do with the internet/computers had to come from him LOLOL

Great minds think alike! I must admit, I didn't read the thread before I posted, so I completely missed that you posted Al Gore too! :)
