Which calendar template to buy?

Who is it for? Yourself, family, work etc? How much time do you have to create the pages? Are you looking at monthly pages, or one year on a page? Do you definitely want it in template form, or would quick pages be easier? What size are you looking at?

Great questions! Monthly for sure! Templates would be best because I have to include photos of the grand kids for my parents and in-laws. Quick pages would be easier but it is sometimes hard to match up photos.
Also, there's the issue of how to present them. In the past, I have done 4x6 in landscape but I simply haven't found a 4x6 that works for me. (All the ones I have seen this year have been portrait and I simply can't find a flip frame with that orientation.) A calendar that hangs on the wall would've ideal but I am late(!) and don't want to deal with the printing hassles, unless you all have any ideas about that. Especially since I have procrastinated so long.
All that said, I think I like CD or 5x7 best since I can print those locally. For the 5x7, I would get a stand and frame. The only problem there is that we do have elderly grandparents and great grandparents who might find swapping out pictures in a frame bit of a hassle. The CD album might be easier for them to deal with. Or have any of you found a convenient way of binding calendars locally. The elderly relative issue really is a factor.
I kind of like Nettio's geometric for the simplicity of creating it and would sort of like to see some more examples of what folks have done with her templates. Bit I always love Cindy's templates too! I know they are very different styles and that makes it a tough choice.

I will sometimes go black and white or sepia with photos if I'm having trouble matching to quick pages. I also try not to be too picky about it, I know that I'm much more critical while I am putting the pictures in than anyone else would be looking over the final product, KWIM? Also, with a smaller size like 5x7, you can crop a lot closer to get rid of clothing or other background things that don't "go" with the page.

I lucked out this year... most of my photos when great with Cindy's/Penny's quick pages 2012 calendar... only one month I had to do a lot of cropping because it was landscapped and I had a portrait for that month.

If you wanted to do a full sized wall calendar, I would check a local Staples/Office Depot. They can print color laser copies on card stock for pretty cheap & they can do some sort of spiral binding there too, usually within a day or 2

I like the quickpage option for calendars too. I'm a very slow scrapper and don't want to spend a whole lot of time on them. This year I was able to use some actions on my photos to tone down the colors in the photos a bit so they'd go better with the quickpage, and I also wouldn't be opposed to doing black and white or sepia-I did both in this years calendar. I ordered mine from persnickety prints and got them within a few days. Their upload process was super easy too.

I also agree about the black/white for pictures if they don't match. I also have to remind myself that these are grandparents and great-grandparents, they're really not looking for matchy-matchy and would have no idea when the photos were taken, so if it's photos from a different month, so be it. They are just grateful to have new pictures of the kids! I used Cindy/Penny's quickpage wall calendar set and printed through Shutterfly, they look excellent.
I am just in a Christmas present panic. 
I have relatives who are basically impossible to buy for. What do you get for people who can afford what they want but who are also retiring and downsizing? I always think maybe I should give something other than photos and calendars, but then other things I find seem impersonal. And the parents and inlaws grandparents really are downsizing. But I really let time get away from me this year. When did it get to be so late? And, seriously, it IS hard to decide when I am shopping here. I want to buy them all, and I can't! In the end it will all come together and be wonderful, I hope.
