what's your story..

Recently diagnosed with diabetes. I was told I'd be on medicine the rest of my life, there was no hope of controlling it, and had a reading of 269 and a1c of 8.7 when it was caught.
I got mad and switched doctors.
Now in 4 weeks I've lost 12 pounds, drastically changed my diet, and never took the meds. Reading 96-114 in the mornings and 108-136 after meals (depending on what I eat) and working hard to get that even lower.
So take that and shove it former Dr. office.
Stubbornness can be a good thing sometimes.
At first it rocked my world in a very bad way. Now I'm thankful for having it because it forces me to take care of myself.

Oh how funny. Ok here is one about me ... I have my diary from that year ... and inside my diary is a postcard of the hotel Donny stayed in when he came to KC ... the news reported what floor he was staying on ... so I have a heart drawn on the room I thought he was in. LOL

Ok remind me NEVER EVER to eat at your house...I have a few food allergies ... and those items I was NEVER tested for (hmmm allergist didn't have a scratch test for crickets!) ... ewwwwwwwwwww

Sharon, I didn't eat any of those things at my house, LOL.
I met Donny Osmond once when he and the whole family were in Ohio for the State Fair. He had purple socks on! LOL I remember being crushed when he got married. :D

ummmm. my middle name in English literally means "bunny".
Does that count? No?
BTW I've eaten guinea pig too while in Peru, Kristin. Eew!! Things we have to do to stop annoying husband during a vacation...

i never learned how to ride a bike.
what she said applies here too :p

can I play too even though I am a newbie?

I home school all my kids, 5 boys, but I actively school only 4 of them. They are in 6th, 4th, 1st, and preschool (age 4 is preschool right?), and the baby is 2 (no school for him yet).

I love birds, especially parrots(have one right now), but I like bird watching, and chickens (have some).

How was that?

And I thought the ladies whose husbands were their one and only are COOL and very blessed....NOT boring!

I've previously lived in The Netherlands and Norway but discovered there is no place like home.

Lets see.....I was engaged at 16 and wore my engagement ring all through High School. Everyone thought I was nuts! And I have currently been married to that man for almost 15 years now!

thought of something else..

i underwent 2 failed IVF treatments, but ended up having 2 kids "the natural way" :)

here's mine!

I served 2.5 years in the Air foce, separating honorably.
I play the flute
I am terrified of not being able to see/hear
I am writing a book...
I may be a tiny bit really really obsessed with Digital Scrapbooking....

Did you know he's a grandfather now? Seems really WEIRD. how did I find out about it? ... my mom's bff sent me an e-mail with the update ... she was the one that took me to the concert back in 7th grade and listened to all of us screaming. lol

Of course you can play!! Welcome to SSD!! I'm a homeschooler too ... but I've only been homeschooling for a couple of years ... my 16yo is in 11th grade and I started homeschooling him in 8th ... and my 15yo is in 9th grade and I started homeschooling him in 7th. Wish I had homeschooled all 3 of my boys from the beginning (I have a 21yo that went through public).

Hi newbie!!! I think a good amount of us might be really really obsessed with Digital Scrapbooking ... present company included ... in fact if I can't get a page done in a day it almost depresses me! ;)

Oh I thought of something ... I have 3 boys ... my sister has 3 girls ... when my sister was pg with her 3rd girl, my niece asked me if she could swap her sister for my youngest boy so she would have a brother and I could have a daughter. lol Somehow that never seemed to happen.

Hmm... I'm an open book... don't really know what to tell you of something that you don't know... I'm an only child, my first kiss was at 28 *blush*... my hubby was my first and only boyfriend. I'm such a looser...

You're not a loser Rebecca! My DH was my first and only boyfriend too! First kiss too! I think it's kind of sweet (in an effort to not think of myself as pathetic, lol)!!

Great thread!

1. I became a Christian just over 4 years ago

2. I am a nerd - I am a software engineer, I had a perfect GPA in Uni and graduated top student of all science specialties in the B Sc program

3. My youngest was born at 28 weeks

4. My biggest dream is to be a SAHM, but it just isn't possible right now :(

5. I'm married to my high school sweetie (21 1/2 years)

Hmmm, I don't have much interesting to tell, but I;ll try!

~ My knees hyper-extend, meaning I can bend them backwards. Kind of gross actually.

~ I wanted to be a ballerina when I was little, but I can't dance for anything

~ I'm 27 and don't have my driver's license. The only reason I've never taken the test is because I'm afraid of failing. Sigh.

~ I have been estranged from my sister for an entire year (at the end of August), and I just finally cried about it the other day. Man, I'm missing her like crazy (probably because I'm pregnant, and I don't know when she'll ever see/meet her new nephew or neice).

~ My DH was my first boyfriend, first kiss & all that. I was 21 when we got married.

...then me too - I was 23 :)

Erm, I lived in Denmark for 18 months, and before that I lived just around the corner from Alnwick Castle (the castle from the 1st HP movie & Robin Hood) in Northumberland. I really loved living there, and have in in my Will to have my ashes scattered there - nothing like planning ahead!

I have really confidence issues, and often have to make myself get out and about.

Oh, and my babysitter l-o-v-e-d Donny Osmond, so naturally he was my first love at aged 4 :p

I'm a classically trained violinist. I miss getting to actually play with a local symphony but that is not an option right now :(

Ok let me see...

I played softball from the age of 6 until I graduated high school...I could've gotten a scholarship but I was burned out on softball my then...It also wasn't as popular as it is now...If only I would've known :)

I'm absolutely addicted to romance novels...who doesn't love a happy ending...

I cry at anything that's remotely sad on tv...I'm a sucker...

I went to the doctor because I thought I was diabetic and came out of the office shocked that I was pregnant...it's the joke in the family...

BWAHAHAHAHAHHA! That's great! At least I'm not alone! lol:P

i HATE beer. haven't even tasted it in over 10 years but just the smell can make me gag.

i haven't seen or spoken to my dad in over 3 years. (long story)

my stepmom has the same first name as me.

my oldest son was technically at both of his parents' high school graduations :P for mine, i was 5 months pregnant- and then his dad graduated the next year.

I am terrified of dying. When I am in the car I have to talk to myself to keep from having panic attacks when another car gets close to me.

I want to be a better person but I don't actually want to put the effort into becoming a better person.

Okay Kellie, I worry about that all the time too! And I am always stressed when DH and DS go somewhere without me. It's like my world is walking out the door.
As for the better person, it does just seem like so much work :p

Lets see here-

Allergic to strawberries
Engaged twice, but only married once.
I hate night gowns... feel like they are gonna wrap around me and strangle me at night.
