So Kathi's post yesterday got me thinking about chili and then I talked to the Bean and she said she was making a big pot of chili and sooo this morning I tromped off to the grocery store and brought home all the fixins for an awesome homemade chili dinner!

I'll be back with pics a bit later but I am really curious to see what everyone else is thinking about munchin on tonight!

Happy New Year Chicklets!

Robin

I'm not sure what we're eating tonight, but I do know about tomorrow LOL. It's a tradition of sorts to eat mixed greens (turnips, collards, etc boiled together), black eyed peas, and rice on New Year's Day. Probably sounds disgusting to some of you, I think it is a southern thing. Supposedly however many beans you eat on New Year's Day is how much money you'll make that year. LOL.

DH is working so I'm having leftover Chile Colorado & Spanish rice (it was good & thankfully I only used 1/4 of the chiles it called for). I may boil my artichoke for an appetizer late this afternoon...

ETA: I'll probably go to my mom's tomorrow & choke down some Black Eyed Peas for good luck & prosperity in 2008 (yuck...). Yes, she's from the South and it's tradition....

We were going to have Chinese, the weather is going to be really bad later, so that's probably out. I went out this morning, and picked up some stuff to make nachos and a few other snack food type things, so we'll probably go that way instead. DH is normally working, so it's usually just me and Benjamin that manage to stay up. The girls never make it LOL

Tonight it's whatever our friends are making...Yay! I don't have to bring anything to the party! I love those type of events...just show up and have fun :)

You're definitely making me want chili sometime this week though...it's supposed to get down to the 30's...woohoo!

We're having a mexican feast at a friends house tonight. Her mom (who is mexican) is making her famous tamales. I'm taking chicken and black bean enchiladas, and there will be salsa and chips, 7-layer dip, and lots of other good muchies. :) Mmm...

Were going to dad's for dinner and we're bringing Steaks/Porkchops Potatoes and green beans. Oh and some cheesey noodles for Owen lol.l

One of the pressies my husband got me was a fajita kit so we are gonna do that tonight! I'm excited, I'm thinking they will be more like soft tacos than fajita's to please lily but still same idea! I'm excited to try it out just like they do in the restaurants :P LOL!

apparently we're going to the movies tonight but I just started weight watchers so I'm saving my points for tonight! LOL Whatever it is that we eat...

The chili idea now has me drooling lol..I was planning to do something simple like chicken salad w/ Hawaiian bread, a cheese dip, etc but now hmmm chili might be on the menu instead!

Oh & Amy we have to do the collard greens & black eyed peas tomorrow too *bluck*. My husband is so superstitious that he has called twice to be sure I bought the stuff for them this morning lol..he's cooking it is all I can say!

Oh & I have to get all of the laundry done today because if you wash clothes on New Year's Day you will supposedly "wash" someone out of your family during that year! Where do these idea's come from? lol

Happy New Year's Eve everyone :)

Connie, it doesnt get more simple than chili (well except opening a can maybe) it took me all of 20 mins to get it goin in the crock pot and now I'm just sitting here waiting for my mama to get here. Check it out...

I WISH I liked chili.. I like the smell and everything. I am just someone who has never been able to get past the texture of beans! If it wasn't for that i'd be all for it.. hehe

We're having baked spaghetti & salad for dinner.

Then we are hosting a NYE party & bonfire. We're having a fruit plate, a cheese plate, a meat plate, marinated artichokes, olives, avocado dip, hummas, baba ganosh, cake balls, cookies, peppermint bark, and assorted breads & chips.

No one leaves my house hungry! :)

Well... I had this amazing meal planned: whole roast salmon with all the trimmings. Then I made the mistake of asking the kids what they would like: "please can we have suasages, mash potatoes and gravy, the way dad makes it?" Go figure...

Happy New Year everyone (2.5 hours to go hear in the UK)

hugs,
Angie

We're gonna end up going to a friends house..I'm taking 7layer dip, chips, mini sausages, and brownies..I think she's ordering wings, has soem cheese dips, and mini tacos. Just a buffet of junk food weeeee

We are going out to dinner in a few minutes. Dh just got home from work and is in the shower and we are off! We are only going to Applebee's so should be home early!

Snack-Attack here! I so wanted to go out and do something but DH is not up for going out at all! Oh well, more time for me to scrap! LOL

We're doing what we do every NYE. LOL! I'm making rotel dip and taco fixings. The kids want hot dogs. (weirdos) I also made some rice krispie treats and choc chip cookies. :)

We usually have some wine or something, but I'm too lazy to drive to the county line right now (stupid dry county).

Traci my best friend has lost 70 pnds this year on weight watchers, and she still eats! LOL! She keeps telling me to try it but I have this fear of failure complex and have been up and down (um, mostly up) for the last 6 years anyway. I think I may try it out. I'll just have to get used to eating celery and water all day so I can pig out on one yummy junk food meal that night :p Seriously though, stick with it and I bet you it will work. There are some times when she would lose nothing in a week or two, and some where she'd lose 5 pnds a week. Good old stick-to-it-iveness I suppose.

Wine sounds good and I never drink so once a year wouldn't kill me. But call me crazy, I feel weird taking my kid into the liquor store and hubby is at work so....I won't be having that glass of white zinfandel tonight. Maybe tomorrow. Drink one for me K?

Yummy stuff, ladies!!

Jay and I are heading to our favorite German restaurant to celebrate. We had our rehearsal dinner there 4 months ago tonight....I can hardly believe tomorrow is our 4 month anniversary already....where does the time go?? It's also our 5 year anniversary of being "official" tonight (after dating for a few months before that). LOL

Hope everyone rings in 2008 in style!! :)

Traci - I am starting to count my WW Points starting Jan. 2nd!!!

Tracy - 30 degrees you say? WOO HOO!!

My boyfriend and I went to the mall after I got out of work early (around 3:30pm) so we ate at Brio (Italian restaurant chain) b/c his parents got us a gift certificate there for Christmas. The lobster bisque was YUM! We also got a chocolate martini, he got a caesar salad and I got a chopped salad and then I got angel hair pasta with shrimp and cherry tomatoes in a scampi sauce. He got something else :-) It was very yummy! The mall and restaurants were PACKED!
