What trend are you "over"?

I was just looking back over my gallery and I've decided I'm "over" brackets. I mean I went through a spell where I used them on EVERY page lol...now I'm kind of turned off by them. I mean..I like the pages I did then, but now I don't want brackets on my page at all lol

Well..I should clarify..I like the separated brackets still..just not the ones that are all one piece...make sense?

I'm always so late with the trends so I'm always behind everyone when they are so over something :) I still love brackets even though I went thru a period where I swear I used them on every layout or every other layout...

I'm "over" the whole bracket. But I still like half brackets and separated brackets. However...I am totally over my titles. I think I have 20 layouts called my sunshine or love you or some variation of both!!!!

Deb - if so, join me in the corner :)

Honestly - I'm over umm...attitude. I'm over the attitude that it has to look at certain way to be 'art'.

I don't think that there is a particular style (well, old school awful digi with warped photos in quick pages) that I'm over.

i was using brackets a lot. now not so much.

i loooooove to layer and group things. its so fun, lol.

Oh my goodness! I thought you meant what trend are we all over, like into right now.

I am like Darcy! I am over the attitude with scrapping. I used to compare myself thinking my LOs weren't good because they weren't like So&So's! Now, I just scrap to preserve the memories. I like my LOs and that's all that matters to me.

I used to be the same way Paula it's so much better when you scrap and not compare yourself with others...

I agree with Paula. I look at DST and those pages are so "artful" and I tried, but for me, I like my paper strips and buttons. so yeah, I'm over trying to be something I'm not.

I'm not over anything, lol. I'm usually slow to get to "trends" anyway so I just use what I like. Years from now trends won't matter anyhow.

Well, I don't know if I'm "over" it, but I'm trying to move away from pages on which the only photo is a close-up of the face. Those pages are beautiful, but I don't want that to be all I have in my albums -- I want my pages to tell a story, to have context, and not just be about how beautiful one particular photo of my kid is.

Those "artful" page are pretty and all, but honestly..they get a little old to me after seeing the same kind of thing over and over kwim?...and anyway I scrap to record my family's memories..how many memories will I really have of DS sitting on a puffy cloud with angel wings lol...I like my pages of his everyday moments much better. Now don't get me wrong..they're pretty pages but I don't feel they really capture moments like I try to do when I'm scrapping.

OWLS. Ugh.

:p

[Is it bad that I have the same answer for an 'in' trend & the trend I'm over?! *lol*]

Nikki I couldn't agree with you MORE! sometimes I think my pages don't get many views/comments because my photos aren't so perfect and glammy, lol ..for lack of a better word, but I want my kids to have memories sparked by these pages in years to come, not that I photoshopped the kool-aid off their lips so I could have a pretty upclose facial shot right? LOL

Scrapbooking is about whatever you want it to be, really...those that scrap the more "artsy" pages are just as much a scrapper as those of us that scrap for recording the memories. For some it's just that - an art form. Everyone is allowed to do their own thing, and that's the BEST part of this industry!

I'm just asking you to be careful about what you say about other styles, because we wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Whatever a person feels that they should record is what they should do, and it's still beautiful. Even if they choose to never print a single page - what difference is it to us, kwim? :)

(Can you tell I've seen some of these threads cause MEGA tension and hurt a lot of people's feelings in the past? LOL!)

Sometimes I wish I could get over worn overlays and page borders. Almost all of my pages the last 2 months or so have them, I feel like I am stuck in a rut!

Oh I didn't mean those pages aren't pretty or that I don't admire them or think that no one should scrap that way...I just meant they aren't always my style. kwim?

That's exactly what I was trying to say Bree - but you said it so much better than I did :)

Well said, and I totally agree.

Oh, AND...lol...I wasn't talking about anyone specific in my post above. Didn't mean to make it sound like that, and if I did, I apologize! :)

I've just seen SO many of these threads turn hurtful, I had to throw in my piece.

I couldn't tell you what trends I'm over, lol...I think I've scrapped like maybe 10 pages this year. Trends come and go before I even scrap a page using them, haha!

Thats how I feel - thank you for putting the words to it for me!

Bree I definitely think you're right. I would never ever want to hurt anyone's feelings, I was just talking about my own personal style..so many times I've WISHED I could pull off pages like those pretty/arty ones, I just guess I don't have it in me.

i'm so over this thread. ahahahaha!! totally kidding, just thought i throw in some sass this am. i mean i'm working on my 2nd 20 oz. coffee. :D

i'm not really 'over' anything per say.

LOL Jennifer - I know what you mean. If I try to do a layout without one now...my pages look so....flat!.

yes!!!! this is my problem too! maybe we can do a challenge when the store opens back up on getting back to basics or something. i kinda wish sometimes that my pages didn't have to be layered to the brim for me to love them, does anyone know what i'm trying to say here?

I am not over anything!!! What you see in my whopping 3 page gallery is pretty much what I have done (with the exception of a few really bad things) so I have sooooo many things left to try!!
