My friend Danielle just stopped by to drop off some food that was left over from a food drive from her sons boyscout troop. It is mostly tuna from what I can see. ABout fifty cans/packs of tuna. Now I love tuna sandwiches occasionally but that is about it. What the heck can I do with this much tuna? LOL Any recipes that call for tuna in them? I only know of tuna casserole and I had that so often as a kid Im not sure if I could stomach it now

What is the expiration date on the cans? I'd just stockpile it and use it slowly overtime. But I'm a food hoarder anyway...I like to have lots of food in storage "just in case".;)

LEEANDRA'S MOM'S TUNA SALAD

1 box pasta shells, medium-sized
1-2 cans tuna, drained
mayo
onion & celery, diced
salt 'n' pepper

Cook pasta; drain & rinse off in cold water. Dump into large refrigerator-friendly bowl. Add other ingredients to taste. Ideally, let sit in fridge overnight, but at minimum, refrigerate 1-2 hours before eating. Serve COLD.

HTH!

Im' the same - if you've got lots of time, just integrate it into your diet over time.

Tuna cakes - you can make them just like crab or salmon patties...Paula Dean has a great recipe on her site, but you can get them anywhere.

If they are close enough to expiring that you might worry - you can always donate some to a local food pantry. I know they're all hurting for food right about now (ours sure is!).

Tuna pasta-salad is a favorite of ours...

1/2 pound of bite sized noodles... either the small rings, or small shells, or whatever (I use Barilla's little star noodles).
1 can of tuna, drained
2 or 3 "baby" dill pickles, finely chopped
1 Small onion, finely chopped
A small can (dunno the oz. off-hand, they're tiny little cans) of peas, drained and rinsed
About 1/4-1 cup of whipped salad dressing (Miracle Whip type stuff), whatever tastes good to you. I've never actually measured this part.
Lemon-Pepper and Celery-Salt to taste

Cook the noodles, drain and rinse with cold water... then mix it all together in a big bowl. We either eat this for lunch or as a side dish.

I have cats too so I might give them a treat or two...we defenitely can use the extra food ourselves so I dont want to complain about it LOL just never really made much with tuna other then sandwiches.

I have a pasta salad recipe at home that I got from a restaurant that I just love. It has tuna, artichokes, cavatappi (you could use small shells instead), and an oil & vinegar based dressing (rather than mayonnaise) and dill. Tasty and very fresh. I'll get it out when I get home tonight and post the actual recipe.

thank you...I actually counted and there are 39 regular sized cans of tuna, three small cans and four pouches LOL. Thats ALOT of tuna!! Somehow my cat knew it was there too. She was next to the box investigating sniffing the cans as I was putting them up

this grosses most people out and I don't know if I could do this now but when I was a college student I would heat up jarred spaghetti sauce I would sometimes add a can of tuna. It gave the sauce a meatier texture and I swear it didn't taste like tuna at all.

what about tuna melts?
