What is scary for you?

need to call a Right now, scary is sitting, in our truck, on the side of the interstate behind our daughter's car. We are thinking she ran out of gas but my husband can't get gas to go in her tank. We have been here a while. Kara is in the car with our three year old granddaughter. Our truck shakes when the semi trucks bust past us on the interstate. Another friend's dad is going to come to see if he can help. If not, we will need to call a tow truck. I will be glad when we get off the side of the interstate!

Ya'll! It is crazy! The traffic ahead slowed down and then we see other cars fly by and we saw a truck have to veer sideways to avoid hitting the car in front of us!

Sounds like you are on the side of a highway at night - scary indeed.

I'm not someone who loves change so much anymore so even though I'm all for updating things in the forums/gallery here, exploring and figuring out makes me anxious.

Also, I won't watch scary movies that involve evil snakes. Like really snakes. Like Snakes on a Plane.

Oh that sounds very scary Evelyn. Hope you get off there soon and safely.

Scary for me - snakes. My only phobia - too many close encounters as a kid growing up on a farm (and we have some the world's deadliest here in Australia 😨). I go into a sort of shock when I see them - my heart races, I get nauseous and am super jumpy for a couple of hours after that.

OOOOH! I hate snakes and spiders!

Update on interstate at 9:25 p.m. I think there has now been a wreck ahead of us on the interstate. Numerous police cars have gone by. The man coming g to help has not arrived but Kara's friend came and picked her and Lively up. Now it's just Tod and me sitting on the interstate behind her car waiting for that man to show up.

Sorry Evelyn, such a scary time! We broke down on the side of the motorway with my mother and children. Luckily the tow truck arrived quickly, but it was very stressful. Kids were little but still remember.

I’m phobic with insects especially wasps and hornets. I just can’t watch Tracey and Erica Kit about pest insects.😅
I am scared with Scary movies, snakes, people who drives like crazy and don’t respect the others.

I hope someone showed up quickly to help so you and your husband could be off the side of the road.

I've definitely become a bit of a germaphobe in the past few years. Having an immunodeficient child during a pandemic and then multiple measles outbreaks will do that to you.

Also: not afraid of gators or sharks but show me a palmetto bug and I might scream. (I also was not scared by the snake we randomly found under our recliner one night. I was concerned that with the AC cold, it might die though so I made my husband sweep it out the front door with a broom while I kept our toddler from trying to 'help')

So sorry to keep you all hanging! Jerry came and helped to get gas in Kara's car using a bigger gas can and a long hose. Before he came, Kara had a friend pick her and Lively up because Kara wanted to get Lively off of the side of the interstate. A friend with a car seat came and picked them up. That left me to drive Kara's car which is quite different than my car. We drove it to a gas station to put more gas in and then to Kara's house. By the time we came home it was 11 pm. We were both worn out. It was a stressful situation but we are glad everyone was safe! Thank you all for listening to me ramble and for all your encouragement!

Oh, gosh. What a night! I'm glad you all got off the highway and eventually home. And then you lost an hour of sleep from the time change. Yikes. Hope you're getting some extra rest somewhere today.

I'm so glad everything worked out! Car trouble is the worst! Even more so when it's your child.

My daughter just had her water pump go while she was at college in Rhode Island (we live in PA), right after they got 30 inches of snow! She didn't know what to do, so she called her cross-country coach, and he helped her find a garage who was able to fix her car for a very reasonable price so she could drive home for her Spring break. She was so lucky to not only find a garage at the last minute, but that he didn't overcharge her. I feel like I should send the garage a thank-you note!

Sending you a big hug, @EvelynD2 , after that ordeal!!

I still have never watched that movie! Friends were talking about how scary it was years ago when they watched it. I couldn't bring myself to ever watch it!

Wow! What a horrible time for her water pump to go out with all that snow! It's wonderful that she thought about calling her coach for help. It's fantastic that she found a good garage that was honest and didn't overcharge her!

Oh @EvelynD2, what a scary night for you guys! So glad that helps came and you all got home safely in the end. I hope you manage to get ample of needed rest after that exhausting scare. Big hugs!

@EvelynD2 What a scary thing! I'm so glad everything worked out and y'all are all safe.

It reminds me of when I was just married, and I was going to get off the interstate at "our" exit and get gas after working until almost 9 pm. I ran out of gas on a LONG exit ramp. A station wagon, very beat up, from the 70s or something and I could see that the vehicle was filled with all kinds of stuff. A lady got out from Puerto Rico and became chiding me for running out of gas, and wasn't I happy she stopped. In my nervousness, I ended up locking my keys in my car. This was in no cell phone days.

All the stuff in the vehicle was from her cleaning business. She drove me to my mother-in-law's house. Both of their vehicles were there in the driveway, so she just left me. Their door was locked and they weren't answering the door, so I figured out they were off with someone else. Still, I wasn't able to get to a phone, so I went next door to my MIL's neighbors. They are from Turkey. I couldn't understand half of what they said. They let me use the phone, but I wasn't able to reach Jay. So I called my MIL's sister, who ended up coming with her sister and a gas can. We stopped at a gas station and then we got on the interstate and you know those turn arounds that say "official use only"? Well Aunt Taz didn't see a cop so she took a U-turn and lights were lit up immediately. She told me to act like we were strangers. I don't know why. Aunt Taz is a little dramatic at times. LOL At any rate, the cop escorted us to the exit and saw my car and helped get me into my vehicle. When all was said and done, it was 11 pm. When I arrived home, Jay was just pulling into our driveway. LOL

Since that time, I have to have AT LEAST 1/4 of a tank of gas, extra keys, and now feel much safer with a cell phone.

As far as what I"m afraid of, clearly running out of gas, sticky frogs, lizards, well, just about any reptilian thing. I will FREAK OUT. I'm scared of roaches or their much bigger relative, the palmetto bug. I'm scared of the people that walk up and down our road. Our road leads to a park and Escambia Bay (which eventually feeds into Pensacola Bay and then the Gulf of Mexico). And sorry, but I can't call it the Gulf of America when I've known it as the Gulf of Mexico for my entire life. Anyway, these people live in areas that are currently undergoing change as the waterfront property is being developed for residents with a lot of money. So there are growing to be less and less walkers, but they are still there. They're either drunk or on drunks based on their behavior. We have a great police force active in our area, so that makes me feel better, but I am scared of people who are desperate and who will do risky things.

Wow. That was a lot. I think I need therapy. LOL

I'm so glad you are all safe! I've sat in a broken down car being shaken waiting for help as people whizzed past. Scary!

Oh, wow! Cheryl! That would have been horrible! We are so used to cell phones now but there was a time when we didn't have them and that made things a lot scarier. So much went wrong in your evening you must have been so stressed by the time you finally got home!

So glad to hear it all ended well. I have many phobias... a few with car = being stranded and by myself... and I hate driving over bridges or flyovers... it was really bad when my son was a toddler and couldn't unclip his harness to escape from water. Iced over lake - that is another huge one - which you wouldn't catch me on one to begin with, lol. And heights - I hate heights. it's so bad I can't even be on a step-stool. To be fair - I'm extremely clumsy and have the worst balance.

I am claustrophobic. It's awful. It's not just enclosed spaces; it's any time I feel I cannot breathe.
