Oh thank you Marieke! Never taste with all those delicious ingredients. here it is considered a traditional German or Alsatian dish with steamed potatoes, different meats and sausages. There are some with juniper berries that I love lol. I never thought of preparing it any other way but it really makes me want to!Yes, sauerkraut and choucroute are the same (at least to my understanding when either in Germany or in France). It's cabbage made sour. It wouldn't be my first choice, but I eat and don't dislike it. It also depends on what it's served with. My mom used to make it from the oven with crumbled mashed potatoes on top and added bacon and fruit.
