What exactly do you designers look for...

At the end of the day.. it really only comes down to one thing..you know?

whoever sends me the most chocolate in the mail.. :P

And your address would be...? :D

Thanks to the OP for asking the question, and to everyone who offered advice. It was great to read!

Wonderful question and some great answers here ladies! Lol at Shawna's replies. I've been following this thread intently... I want to go into graphic design or advertising (or both!?) one day so this is such a great read.
Ok, ok, I also commented because I want to show off my new siggy :p

Should I send some laxative, too? :)

Great comments here! Thank you to all designers who have shared their opinions.

I, too, think that the most important thing is to scrap for yourself. Whether you get on some CTs or not, that's just an icing (very sweet one, of course :)).

So that's what I've been doing wrong ... I'll remember that next time, Kristin! ;)

I agree; wonderful thread! I love literally every single designer at SSD (and I can't say that about most shops) and would be thrilled to CT for any of them. I just have to believe that eventually my time will come, and like someone mentioned earlier, I'll find that perfect match with a designer who will like my style. :) I do think it's critical to keep learning and trying new things so that you don't get stuck in a scrapping rut. I LOVE learning new techniques and challenging myself to think outside the box. Now, don't get me wrong. Sometimes the results are...shall we say less than perfect, but at least I've tried something new, ya know? :p

Ok.. so now I will say for real things. LOL (although I do love me some dark chocolate haha)

I am actually having a call very soon.. as in april. I do 6 month CT terms now. What I (along with a couple girls) will be looking for this time are girls that are 100% committed to being on my team. I am never a designer that is on the ball with getting my kits early but I'm hoping to have girls that are able to scrap a fab page. I'm looking for girls that just truly want to be on my team and are able to show it through layouts and helping out with my facebook page. I look for positivity too.. that is a big thing with me. I want people on the team to bring happiness.. scrapping for me is a positive thing so too much negativity makes me sad. :)

**runs off to buy some dark chocolate** lol. :D

Wonderful advice posted by everyone.

When I first started scrapping in 2009 I joined teams because I wanted to be on a CT, but now I know better I only apply for CT calls I'd LOVE to be on. I've recently left 2 teams as I wasn't happy with the pages I made for them, and I felt awful about that as I try my hardest on pages and it's stressful when I couldn't get them to work. What I find hard is when I get a PM at DST asking me to join their team, I find it so hard to say no, but I'm getting good at that now, not that it happens often, lol.

Now I'm happy with every single team I'm on.

great thread...i echo what everyone said about making the pages YOU...when i first started scrapping i was so intimidated by all the you great scrappers...finally after realizing i wouldn't and couldn't scrap like xxx i just started creating pages for myself in my own style (whatever that is) and somewhere along the way i got on some great ct's...

oh! and a big one! HONESTY!

Please never use the excuse that you are too busy for a team.. leave and then a week later join 3 new teams. Designers appreciate honesty - don't be scared to say things aren't working for you and styles aren't meshing.. we would rather hear that than too busy but not too busy to join new teams..

:)

It's taken me all day to read this thread (darn work!) but such great info!

Funny designers we have here at SSD!
